Despite a thorough reset of all my settings for followed sites, I am still not getting the correct notifications from wordpress.
Just to let you know that I am not ignoring any of your recent posts, but I now have to search for them by going to your sites directly, or hoping that they appear on the Reader.
I had hoped that WP would have sorted out all these glitches by now, but they seem to have put me into some sort of naughty box, where nothing is as it was.
I will do my best to keep up with all your latest posts, but bear with me if I seem to have disappeared.
I have discovered I am once again having similar issues with followed sites now. Some seem to appear missing or not viewable saying the page cannot be found but it’s indeed there..just not viewable to actually read. It’s a peculiar problem and one that is hard to fully explain to the forum and exhausting as I’ve been away for a few days but here’s hoping our glitches galore are fixed with time.

I have had some success with post emails, MV. But I didn’t get this comment, and had to find it on the sidebar. I’m sure some glitches are unresolved.
Best wishes, Pete.

At least it’s not December. Otherwise, we might be talking about the Glitch that Stole Christmas!

Sorry for your frustrations and appreciate your attempts at fixing the problem, but nothing you can do will encourage the WordPress Gremlins to fix anything until they are darned good and ready. The Happiness Do-bees WILL, however, attempt to keep you busy fixing this and checking that for as long as you’ll play, all to no avail – my 6-year experience, anyway.
Unless they are smoking something creating the brain-fuzz while they [attempt to] “improve” the platform, I often wonder if the whole tech team has runaway ADD.
A tech-coach colleague swears that ADD is endemic in Silicon Valley (she is a member of the club herself, but doesn’t coach it). I DO, however, happen to know an excellent ADD Coach I can recommend – quite well, in fact! 🙂

Thanks, Madelyn. I have had nothing back so far from WP, and still no fix of the glitches. I’m not shouting too much, as I use the free site, but if I was paying for Premium, it would be another story I’m sure.
Best wishes, Pete.

I AM paying for premium. No difference in the recurrence and persistence of frustrating problems – and nothing much I can do about that unless I’m ready, willing and able to switch to a self-hosted site. ::sigh::

Do they not have a ‘live chat’ facility on Premium, Madelyn? They advertise ‘how useful’ that is. 😦
LikeLiked by 1 person
They do – but it isn’t any more useful than emailing the Happiness Engineers in my experience, just a more immediate back and forth.
The moderator eventually sent the email FOR me, I believe, saying that s/he needed to “check with technical support” and would get back to me by email – which never happened, btw.
Plus, its not always that easy to find where they hide that “live chat” – for me anyway. More hassle than benefit, I’d say.

They just got back to me. They claim it is a problem with my email provider, not them.
“We’re sending you a lot of emails, including notifications from sites you follow, but also notifications about likes and comment, but a large number of these are bouncing back, meaning they cannot be delivered. This points to a problem on Yahoo’s end. Either they’re blocking some emails from us, or there’s something wrong with your mailbox with them which prevents the email from being delivered.
Please try adding comment-reply @ wordpress.com and donotreply @ wordpress.com (without the spaces) to your Yahoo address book and see if more emails start coming through. If that doesn’t help, you’ll need to contact Yahoo support to find out why they’re not letting our emails come through.”
Best wishes, Pete.

Great response! Sounds likely, given the description and if they understood your problem correctly, it reads as if they checked it out thoroughly and suspect you may also be losing email to some sort of autospam filter (given their advice to add those addresses). Clearly that is NOT what happened with the bounced emails.
I wouldn’t wait and see – I’d get Yahoo involved immediately. Since they’re in the early stages of a roll-out of a new version, it’s possible that something IS kludgy on their end – and, if so, I doubt you are the only one so affected, so it might be a quick fix. Worth trying.
AND, if the Yahoo support folks bounce you back to WordPress, you’re still “active” in both support databases so you won’t have to start all over.
Thanks for sharing. Good to have new info, yes?

Sorry you are still having glitches in wordpress! I seemed to have dropped off your radar so I do believe it is a WordPress problem. Fortunately I still get to see your posts. Hope they get it sorted out for you soon! And I hope sunshine has reappeared for you and Ollie too! ☺

I am trying to catch up with everyone’s posts using the reader. It’s a new thing for me, but I hope to get on top of everyone’s posts soon.

It’s all very odd. I have WP emails go direct to my junk folder as I hate my email being clogged up. I have always used the reader and never had a problem with it and use it to go direct to the persons site, I like to see the layouts and stuff 😊 hope you get sorted.

Thanks, FR. I have used email notification from the start, and never had a problem, until recently.
Cheers, Pete.

Have you seen any pattern of problems based on nationality? I ask because another blogger who was discussing similar problems, who is now living in the U.S., set his site up when he was in Germany, (.de) Try posting a compliment about the NSA, perhaps that will help!

It appears to be random at the moment, Robert. Some UK sites, others from the US.

I have just a few that don’t come through. I have to check the Reader, the emails, and then the dashboard on my site to make sure I respond to everyone. I think I will try to do some digging. I’m getting your notifications though.

Thanks, Ron. The more replies I get, the more it seems to be a widespread problem.

I haven’t received an answer from WP Support at all as to why my posts have stopped appearing in the Tag WWII or WW2, despite my Tagging it as such. I mean come on, Pacific Paratrooper NOT in the WWII Tag? How is that even possible?
[I only list 9 or 10 tags on each post.]

I suspect that some big changes are afoot in WP, GP. All sorts of glitches, affecting many different people.
Still waiting for an answer myself.
Best wishes, Pete.

I seem to have the same problem. I only get notifications (by email) from perhaps half the sites I’ve followed. The rest (including yours) I have to find on my WordPress Reader or go directly to the sites to find the other things. Is this the same for you? If WP come up with a solution, I’d be grateful if you could let me know.

Sounds like the same issue, Peter. If I get anything back from wordpress, I will be sure to update the post, and let you know.

One thing to do is to check and see if all the followed sites are still up and running. A lot of them might have ceased publication or removed their blogs and that might be part of the problem. Thankfully I am still able to read your blog and able to respond to your posts.

Thanks, John. I have been through all the sites, and checked them. Some haven’t posted in a while, but the majority of them posted recently, and I didn’t get the emails.
Regards, Pete.

I do not get e mails about anybody’s blog posts either unless I have specifically followed them by e-mail. Just pressing a follow button often gets them onto your reader but not onto your e-mail. The follow button must specify “Follow By E-Mail.” Are you sure that you have followed all your favorites on “E Mail” or are you only finding them in your WordPress Reader?

Give me one of the sites you follow and let me see if I have similar experiences with getting their updates. I will report back to you on the results. Just pick one of the ones that are giving you problems —

I have checked the ‘please notify me of new posts by email’ in the settings, John. Some eventually get into the reader, but I have to look for them.
