After complaining about mud recently, I thought I might show you some pictures of it. Despite two days of bright sunshine, it doesn’t appear to be drying up. I took these shots on Hoe Rough today.
Soft mud, on reasonably firm ground.
Ollie, drinking watery mud. He loves the taste.
I’ve never been a big fan of mud, but when I started walking my friends’ dogs, I came to enjoy the feeling (although I haven’t been very lucky with my wellies). And that reminds me I’m going back to Wales next week and don’t have a pair of wellies… Ollie seems so happy! Enjoy the weather and the company, Pete!

Thanks, Olga. Ollie is always happy when he’s out. Some days, I feel guilty when I have had enough, and head home. But I balance that with the knowledge that some dogs around here are lucky to get a 10-minute walk.
Rain yesterday and today, and some more to come. I suggest you get some wellies before you return to Wales. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

I saw a family over there yesterday. The little boy (about 3 years old) was stuck fast in the same area. His Dad had to grab his legs and pull him free. The child turned and said “Again, daddy, let’s do that again'” 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

A picture says a thousand words. Ugh! At least you have your rain boots, and Ollie is a happy camper. Sunshine, too! Best to you, Pete.

Thanks, Jennie. We have had four days of sunny mornings this week, but it’s set to end tomorrow, unfortunately. Sadly, there was little heat in the sun, so the mud has not gone away!
Best wishes, Pete.

March is right around the corner. Here in New England, March is mud month. Melting snow and not a sign or a prayer of anything green. At least the winter months have some pretty snow. March is just ugly and muddy. I’m with you on the mud thing, Pete. Best to you.

Great photographs of the mud, Pete. Your post has inspired a mention in my Sunday post and I shared a song you might enjoy about mud: https://robbiesinspiration.wordpress.com/2018/02/18/a-water-raising-cake-and-mud/

It’s only when I am out with the dog though. The paths and pavements are all dry and solid, but I have to take him somewhere more dog-friendly. 🙂

Ollie has a long walk at the same time, seven days a week, whatever the weather..
Mud, snow, sunshine, he doesn’t care. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

Your mud looks to be wetter and less deep and thick. I can’t believe I am comparing English mud to New England mud. It must be February.

There are other places where it is deeper and thicker, Elizabeth. I just avoid those! 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

You are to be commended for being willing to take Ollie out for a walk in such conditions. You’re definitely not a stick-in-the-mud.

The antennae of suspicion are twitching again. Ollie seems just a bit too content for comfort. I suspect some little four footed friend is outside in the middle of the night with a garden hose soaking the ground for their own amusement.

That’s over half a mile from where we live, Chandler. So it must be a long hose! 🙂

Funny how dogs (and cats) prefer water from a lovely muddy puddle to the nice clean stuff we provide. Love the way he looks to be having such a good time racing along.

I don’t know why he suddenly hit that burst of speed, Mary. Maybe because he saw that I had the camera ready! They do indeed love their ‘flavoured water’. He even drinks the run-off from the pig-farm! 🙂
(My theory is that they can smell/taste the fluoride, and other additives in tap water. He only drinks from his bowl late at night, when there is no alternative.)
Best wishes, Pete.

We have tarmac and paved walkways by the houses. This area in the photos is a nature reserve, so has ‘natural paths’. (In other words, mud!)

We have the same kind of natural paths in our nature preserves as well … and the same navigation problems … especially in the rainy season.
