I am very pleased to announce that I have once again had an article accepted for publication in the latest edition of Longshot Island magazine. It is a non-fiction piece about architecture, and is on page fifty. As well as that, the new edition features some outstanding short stories, and offers so much more, including great value classified advertising for your latest book, website, or services.
The magazine is available as a print copy, or a download. Anyone interested can also get a $1 discount on the price via this blog, using the code 1$FORYOU If you would like to know more about this magazine, perhaps even send one of your own submissions for consideration, please follow the links below.

Best wishes to all, Pete.
I just saw this. How wonderful! I bought a copy just to read your article and was surprised by your appreciation of Brutalist architecture! I take it you’re a fan of deconstructionism in general?

Thanks very much, Nicholas. I don’t subscribe to any particular theory. I just like some architectural styles that remind me of historical fortifications, castles, and towers.
My favourite style is Art Deco, with its Egyptian motifs, rounded lines, and use of light woods and curved stone.
I may have an article on that in one of the future issues of the magazine. Unfortunately, copyright problems prevented the use of some photos that would have illustrated my favourite Brutalist buildings.

You might like to submit a story to that magazine, to publicise your own work. Daniel is a very approachable owner/editor.
Best wishes, Pete.

Lol–I never expected to meet someone who can enjoy both Art Deco and Brutalism! Thanks for the photos 🙂

I have varied tastes, Nicholas. But Art Deco, and to some extent, Modernist, is my go-to style. 🙂

Well done Pete, and yes, get cracking on a short story anthology! (But have a couple of happy ending ones in it!) 🙂

I think I have only got two with happy endings. I might have to read through them again. 🙂
Cheers, Pete.

Not small stuff at all, Pete. You should be proud of everything you get published. It was having non-fiction articles published when my first book was being rejected by every publisher under the sun that gave me the confidence to keep going.

Thanks for that encouragement, Mary.

Congratulations on being published once again! One of these days, you must publish an anthology of your short stories. I know you’ve thought about it.

I am still thinking about it, David. They have only published one of those. The other articles they have used have all been non-fiction. I would have to think about how many stories, which ones to choose, and how much it would cost as a project. But I would be very happy to see my own book one day, even an anthology.
Best wishes, Pete.

Using Amazon’s CreateSpace, or KindleCreate, there is no cost at all.

Thanks, Sandra. When they first published one of my short stories, I was ecstatic. I even have a short ‘author bio’ in the magazine. 🙂
They only pay a small amount for submissions, but I take a few free copies instead!
Best wishes, Pete.

Nice to tap into “traditional” media – I love print and always will, but there are so many people who have never touched it – at least since school ended!

Cool! As their style correspondent could you resolve a major conflict between my wife and I about how much below or above the knee should my walking shorts be?
Seriously, Congratulations on another success in the print world.
Warmest regards, Theo

I also wear ‘longer shorts’. I think they should hang just covering the knees, when standing. 🙂
I have always felt that ‘short shorts’ should only be worn by runners, and other athletes.
Best wishes, Pete.
