Come Baby Come
In 1994, I was 42 years old. I was not the usual audience for a modern Rap Music song, aimed at the younger generation. But his was climbing up the charts, and played on the radio and TV pop stations all the time. It was hard to avoid, and started to get inside my head. Unlike many of the gangster-inspired unintelligible Rap of the time, this was funky, catchy, and at times, even Jazzy.
Like many others back then, the promotional video was a well made short film, running well over four minutes. It featured a nice car, happy-looking, snappy dancing young men, and the usual assortment of gorgeous girls in suggestive poses that suited the equally suggestive lyrics. I had to admit the combination was infectious, and decided to confess to myself that I really liked this record, and the lively bunch of lads, K7, who performed it. It seemed to sum up that era, and to a large extent, still does.
Fast forward to 2018, and I had more or less forgotten this huge hit from the 1990s. Then it appears as the soundtrack to a regular (and very clever) television advertisement here, and once again I feel my feet moving, and that song worming its way into my head. I might even be tempted to jump up from the sofa and emulate K7’s lively dance routine, if I wasn’t scared of dislocating a hip.
This is a tune. You have to dance when you hear it.

I have to agree it’s definitely catchy.😊 If you do decide to emulate the dance routine, will you ask Julie to get you on camera and post it?😁

The chance of seeing me show myself up by dancing and posting that online is zero, I’m afraid.
Maybe if I was drunk enough at a party or a wedding, and decide to do some awful ‘Dad-Dancing’! 🙂 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

Elizabeth, the whole point of the post is that I cannot recall, for the life of me! 🙂
OK, I checked. It is IKEA furnishings, a Swedish company, very popular here.
Best wishes, Pete.

It sounds as if it owes something to army cadence calls – sound offs.
