James Kingston is a young man who climbs very tall structures, then risks his life by hanging off of them by his fingers. This You Tube clip is not suitable for anyone who has a real fear of being up high, but it is amazing to watch. No safety line, great strength in his hands and arms, and obviously little or no fear.
Depending on your point of view, he is either crazy, or inspiring.
Either way, he is certainly reckless.
I suppose you can argue that this is the epitome of self belief… I mean it actually made my skin crawl but I admire him for having such faith in his abilities.

That’s why I find him fascinating to watch. He seems to be totally devoid of fear.
Best wishes, Pete.

Im just amazed that James Kingston did not kill himself doing that. I think any of us would have gotten killed If we tried that ourselves.

Quite a few of his imitators have died doing similar stunts, John.

I’m not great with heights Pete. I watched Man on Wire from behind the settee…

I’ve seen that too. But I think this is worse, for some reason. 🙂
Cheers, Pete.

I believe there is a “sickness” where the person cannot feel fear and is a menace to society….all I can say is better hi then me…..I prefer to be remembered in a way other the the greasey spot I leave behind. chuq

They certainly don’t think about those who have to clear them up at ground level, or the loved ones left behind, that’s for sure.
Best wishes, Pete.

I do not see why their attitude “Because it is there” does anything for society……did I miss something? chuq

If you missed it, I did too. I would never be inspired to do something so reckless. 🙂

Mhmm – he feels faint now!

Understandable. I felt rather dizzy the first time I watched him do such a stunt. 🙂

I kind of ‘get’ wanting to climb the crane but not the hanging by the fingertips. And, I want to know how he pulled himself back up from that position. Going to show it to my other half who has no head for heights!

He has many similar videos where you can see him getting back from such situations, Mary. He must be very strong. I would climb up there, but definitely not try to hang from my hands. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

At least you are no longer working in the ambulance. I figure eventually someone will have to clean up after him!

Quite a few like him have fallen to their deaths. Perhaps it is just a long-winded way of committing suicide? 🙂

I think it is a challenge with death. Humans never can beat death, but these kids seem to want to try.

He does promote this stuff online, so I suspect he earns money from it. Not a ‘job’ I would like though, Edith. 🙂

Honestly…people like this are just in my humble opinion, totally insane. I saw a video over on youtube from a similar person in China….only he lost his life by doing something like this. He was also hanging from atop a very high place, but didn’t have enough strength left to clim back up and fell. I mean absolutely no disrespect, as certainly it takes guts to do something like this. But I have always thought life is precious, so why risk it on something such as this.

It is a strange thing to do, and fatal in so many cases. But I confess to being fascinated by watching it, Michel. 🙂

I have often thought gaining height was a good way to get photographic images of some note. To think he went to all of that trouble and just hung around from his fingertips without taking some (a lot of) memorable photographs. Warmest regards, Theo

It is all shot on a Go-Pro camera, Theo. They sponsor his You Tube channel, I suspect.

I’ve put myself in a few precarious situations when rock scrambling. During my college days in Arizona, I once worked my across the void with my hands, dangling from a rock shelf. Fortunately, it was only a matter of 6-10 feet across. A number of years ago, while climbing the Calico Hills here in Nevada, I put my life in great jeopardy by trying to cross a near vertical rock face using only my fingers and toes. Had I lost my grip, I would have fallen a few hundred feet. In the end, I had to return, as I could see the writing on the wall, so to speak, had I continued. I’m a lot more cautious now, but still take some risks here and there when I rock scramble!

I have a great fear of heights which my husband used in his thesis. He tried to perform various tests to see if he could rid me of it. It did not work.

I didn’t watch it. They call it Acrophobia, an irrational fear of heights and I am afraid of heights. Even if I am inside a building and I could see far below, my knees shake.

I bravely watched to the end; I don’t like heights especially with empty space underneath! I imagine one is not actually allowed to do this, but who could stop him once he was near the top.
