Spam Warning: Invasion!

Over the past four days, I have been notified of over 180 Spam comments. Five of those were placed there in error, from bloggers I know. All the others were like those shown below; seemingly meaningless, and from dubious email addresses. This selection arrived just a few minutes ago, and is the third such grouping I have had today.

Fortunately, they were all placed in the Spam Folder, by WordPress. But as a warning to everyone, if something like this turns up in your comments, or awaiting moderation, make sure to delete it without opening the link.

It seems we are being invaded!

    1. Thanks, Mona. My site includes Akismet, and this is catching all of these so far. I just posted that as a warning in case anyone clicked on the link. ๐Ÿ™‚
      Best wishes, Pete.

  1. Thank you. I got a new phone number for my spare smartphone that I use for a backup for taking photos. I’ ve received seven calls on it in the 40 or so days I have had it. Four were from the same attempt to get my social security number, three were other span and one was a call to the previous owner of the number–a bill collector. I assured the latter that I was a recording as the real me was dead–died of consumption. Warmest regards, Theo

  2. I haven’t had a spam invasion lately, but a few days ago a “like” invasion via Klausbernd and Dina’s Blog. Someone went through there and liked more than 30 comments I had left there.

  3. Yeah, I’ve been inundated with them for about the last 6 months. Fortunately, like you, they are collected in my spam folder and I just go in and delete. It seems there are 3 categories of spam: Sex trafficking, athletic wear and marketing offers.

  4. Well, just checked my own spamfilter. Apart from some weird messages that say how to make Viagra at home (well who knows could come in handy one day) my own spam is reasonably invasion free๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
Thanks for warning us though Pete: glad that at least the spamfilter takes care of it.

    1. WordPress seems to be on top of it, but the location ID numbers don’t work properly, and it appears to all originate from South Asia. That could be anywhere from China, to the Indian sub-continent. This post was just in case anyone was curious about opening a link.
      Cheers, Pete.
