As it is September and autumn will soon be in full swing, I decided to cheer us all up with this foot-wiggling classic from Earth, Wind, and Fire.
Yes, it is called ‘September’
Can you believe that this was released in 1978?
Where did all those years go?
This was always one of the greatest–thanks fopr posting it.

I don’t remember the song you’ve posted here. But I do remember this 1965 song:
Try to remember the kind of September
When life was slow and oh, so mellow.
Try to remember the kind of September
When grass was green and grain so yellow.
Try to remember the kind of September
When you were a young and callow fellow,
Try to remember and if you remember then follow.
(Lyrics by Tom Jones; sung by Jerry Orbach)

I remember it well from my youth. Harry Belafonte had a chart hit with it, and it was covered by so many others.

It certainly took me back to 1978. Not a banner year despite being a wonderful song.

Yes, I remember that year because I moved to a house in Wimbledon. But that’s about all. 🙂

I will spare you the details of my year.

Great pick, Pete. It’s funny how some songs trigger great memories. I remember it being 1978, and I had just gotten my first apartment with a buddy. This song was all over the airwaves at the time.

I thought it might have been later, maybe ’85. But come to think of it, I still have the vinyl album somewhere. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

Pete, this Saturday night I will be seeing “Earth Wind & Fireworks” at The Hollywood Bowl – the band, led by lead singer Philip Bailey, will play all their hits and end with a fireworks display above the bowl…I posted last year when I saw them at Napa Valley’s Bottle Rock concert and they were incredible: energetic and flawless in their performance…look forward to a video being posted afterwards!

I’m sure you’ve seen this one, John. I liked Earth wind and Fire as well as Genesis. It looks like Philip Bailey and Phil Collins had fun making this video.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JkRKT6T0QLg

Great song, Pete, and so good that it has been known to encourage even this reticent dancer to shake a tail feather on the dance floor 😉

One of my favourite songs. Years ago I used to do exercises to it. Maybe it’s time to revisit the exercises and the song.
