The Best Blogging Day

Yesterday, the 10th October 2019, turned out to be the best-ever day so far for views of this blog.

620 views in 24 hours beat the previous highest figure by more than 30.

Once again, I have to thank all my readers in America, as that country’s contribution of 342 views made up well over half that number.

Stats don’t mean everything to most of us bloggers, I know. But hitting the highest ever figure was notable, and very pleasing to me.

I thank everyone who keeps reading and following this blog.

You make it all worthwhile.

Best wishes, Pete.

    1. Thanks, SM. I did publish quite a few posts that day, but someone in America read a whole lot of posts in one day. (Judging from a huge number of single-post reads on my stats) No idea who that was, unfortunately. 🙂
      Best wishes, Pete.

    1. The Jenny serial didn’t make much difference. It was an overall increase over a month. So far, the serial is getting 60-70 views a day, which is very similar to previous serials. I think the same people like the serials, and some are put off by following the daily episodes.
      Best wishes, Pete.

  1. Congratulations Pete. I check my stats everyday and I can so relate to that feeling when you see your stats soaring high . My daily numbers have never touched the 3 digit figure. It came close to it once .. lol..
what do you think changed the numbers ? Any tips ?

    1. Thanks, Deepa.

When I started blogging, I was happy to get 10 views a day. The first time I got 50, I was over the moon. I never actively ‘pursued’ views, but as I published more content, and engaged with the wider community without fail, they started to increase.

The first time I got 100 views in a day, I thought about why that had happened. It was for a post including photos. People like to see photos and images. I also never forget to reply to comments, or to comment on every posts of the bloggers I follow. Even when I am busy, or not feeling well, I make sure not to neglect my ‘blogging responsibilities’ to the community I have become a part of.

I published this post a while back, with some tips outlined. It was in 2017, when I had been blogging for five years.

How to have a popular blog

      Best wishes, Pete.

      1. Thank you so much for the detailed reply Pete. I will also go through the link .
Yes, I hear you. Engaging with the community is very important.
Have you tried affiliate marketing and other monetising techniques? I have tried and failed since views are important for all those .

  2. congratulations! I know stats aren’t everything-but they are something! Oh how excited I get when “stats are booming!” pops up-though I have never had nearly as many views in a day as yours! By the way I am loving the series! thank you and best wishes for even more success!

        1. I presume it is a full-time job for them. They will get a good income from advertising, and publish posts up to five times a day. I doubt they reply to many comments at all, or they may even be at the stage of employing staff to do that! The biggest and most popular blogs are about US sports, like basketball and baseball. Also about computer games, and specialist TV blogs like those covering Game of Thrones. General bloggers like me are the ‘pond life’ of blogging. 🙂

  3. Well done, Pete. I haven’t got into checking my stats yet, because it’s still early days. Just out of curiosity, did you see the book review I posted yesterday (Identity Crisis)? The reason I ask is that I haven’t had one response: not one! Seems a bit odd :p

        1. OK, more research. Your ‘home’ page always starts with the Orwell post. The Ben Elton review doesn’t appear until you scroll down to the third entry. That Orwell post should be way down the list by now, so I suspect there is a fault with your settings. 🙂

        2. Try this
          Admin main page.
          Got to ‘Settings’
          Then ‘Reading’
          The first item shows this.
          ‘Your homepage displays’.
          There are two options.
          ‘Your latest posts’
          or
          ‘A static page’
Make sure you have ‘Your latest posts’ selected.
Not sure it will fix anything, but worth a look. 🙂

  4. First and foremost, congratulations Pete! Second, I pay far too much attention to the stats, primarily because I hope that people enjoy what I post and come back for more…that said, it’s also a fun creative outlet, so if a post has a more “limited” reach, so be it!

                    1. I sure could. I even want to come over there for literature studies that I think I don’t deserve to do after reading your story. I am quitting literature, man your story was mindblowing.🤕🤕🤯🤯🤯
