I noticed this morning that my total of followers had tipped over the 5,000 mark.
The figures from WordPress add up to 5,007.
Blog followers. 4718
Email only followers. 38
Twitter and Linkedin folowers. 251
It doesn’t seem that long ago that to get 100 followers seemed unattainable. When I got to 1,000, I thought that would surely be it.
We all know that follower numbers don’t make a blog. Most of them fail to actively follow anyway, and having 90 followers who comment and engage is as good as having 2,000 who never bother to do that.
But 5,000 looks good on the page, and is worth recording, I think. 🙂
My thanks to all of you, as always. Pete.
Congratulations Pete!

It’s good news but you get plenty of feedback which is the main thing . I found that on Twitter and Facebook you can buy followers and likes. I had to smile 5000 likes on Facebook will set you back £97.99! I think famous celebrities have to employ an office to answer the requests they receive.
Apparently essays are available at a price for those struggling to get through university.

I’ve been only blogging for six months, but I don’t even have one hundred followers yet. That is not important to me, anyway. What is important is engaging with some friendly people, and you fit that profile, Pete. I can see why so many people follow you. You are an excellent writer, choose interesting topics, and your kind manner shines through.
I’m already at that point where I have to make some choices about who to follow. It’s easy to spend way too much time with this hobby. I’ve been retired three years now, but I have too many other things I want to do on an average day. How did I ever find the time for work before? 😎

Thanks, Pete. After six months, I had about 12 followers, and followed just six other blogs. It didn’t matter to me at all, and I kept plugging away. Now after seven years, I follow 100 other blogs, and they don’t all post every day. That number is my self-imposed limit.
Best wishes, Pete.

Followers are nice, and opportunities for connecting, etc., but…I personally get more excited over comments, chats and those times when I gain email pen pals after meeting here – :D. But still….milestones are milestones and Congrats! 😀

I thrive on comments and engagement too. But such posts are rather ‘traditional’ on WP, so I thought I would mention the number. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

yup – i’ve posted/shared such milestones, me self – usually when WordPress ENSURES I see them upon log in – LOL – – but man, do I get more satisfaction over all the cool things I learn and the neat folks I ‘meet’ – :). My journey here, really rather spoiled me to being satisfied with other forums/social media feeds – – not the same depth or richness to it – AND, amazing how many other places make you hunt, peck, search, jump through hoops to find metrics for the past year – which is the only time most of my clients expect and ‘overview’ report – usually because I’ve cautioned them over content, quality and not just looking for ‘numbers’ right out of the gate – but then, I’m at odds with most of the marketing advice, which, to my mind, is totally geared towards “go big or go home” instead of ‘plant your garden, water it, weed it and watch it grow’ perspective – – :). It does sorta crack me up that some of my most often visited posts are the times I reviewed some piece of household equimpment (no affiliate link) or reported back on my inept attempt at home-doing – how-toing – LOL

Good stuff Pete. In the reader under your name it says 4,722 followers so 4 more must have turned up since you wrote that!
LikeLiked by 2 people
If you look at any main page on my blog above the word FOLLOW, it now says 5,015!
I don’t think the Reader includes all the social network only followers. Not sure how they calculate this stuff, but I have had 8 more follow notifications since I wrote this last night. 🙂

I added it to connect with some former ambulance colleagues, now just use it to promote my posts. I am not ‘active’ on it though, and have very few followers on that platform.
Anyone can join Linkedin, but it is mainly for business networking and job-hunting.
