  1. You are still on Windows 7? I think you know that support for it, even for critical updates, was stopped yesterday. Not that I believe it has anything to do with your current problems.

    1. I do know that, Pit. I have backed up photos and files, and have a good anti-virus, etc. I am going to have to stick with W7 for a while, until I decide what new computer to get later in the year.
      Best wishes, Pete.

      1. The new computer, or laptop rather, was the reason for me to get used to Windows 10. I must say, I’m not unhappy with it, and transferring data and (some) programmes was easy. Especially as I’m using some programmes in the 365-mode and thus can easily install/use them on a new computer.
On my desktop I’m still running Windows 8.1 – very likely until they don’t send updates [just the regular ones] any more.

  2. I ‘liked’ this Pete, but obviously I rather dislike it. I was trying to remember how this was resolved for other bloggers in the past. Might do some searches and see what I can dig up.

  3. I had similar ‘anonymous’ issues when commenting on other blogs in the past but not lately. That seemed to be resolved when I switched browsers. I entered comments on your posts this morning using two different browsers on my desktop and also from my phone. I seem to have been spared so far from any issues but will stay on the alert. Hang in there Pete. I know how frustrating it can be!

  4. If you’re using Windows 7, that’s may explain why you’re having trouble. Support for Windows 7 ran out as of Monday January 14. If you haven’t already, I’d suggest that you go ahead and upgrade to Windows 10. I Upgraded my computer back in December and I find that it runs much faster.

    1. Thanks, Ann. I knew about that, and have posted on it previously.
After some investigation and ‘live-chat’ today, it appears that the fault was with WordPress, and they admitted as such.
      Best wishes, Pete.

  5. Your problem is not WordPress. Your problem is Windows 7. It ended. No longer compatible. Zilch. Must update to Windows 10. Free update available on Microsoft word website.

    1. I have three extras, Renard. Chrome, Firefox, and Brave. (I don’t use the pre-installed MS browser).
The issue was on all of them, as it was emanating from WordPress.
Thanks very much for your advice though.
      Best wishes, Pete.

    1. Thanks, Lorraine. It is all over the place this morning. Some comments are anonymous, others normal. I can type on my own blog, but not comment on other people’s. By the time this is sorted, I doubt I will be able to catch up with everyone’s posts.
      Best wishes, Pete.

  6. Sorry to hear that, Pete! You could try opening an incognito window on Chrome (or whatever browser you’re using) and using that. Sometimes, this kind of problem is cache-related and incognito browsing basically resets your cache.

    1. I was able to comment on your blog, as it is a non-WP blog. But they have banned me from commenting elsewhere. Someone is contacting them on my behalf, as I am also unable to get ‘support’. I tried using a different browser (on Chrome at the moment, tried Firefox) but that went through the login procedure, then refused access to other sites.
As I am on a paid plan, that makes me mightily pissed off!
      Best wishes, Pete.
