Yesterday, I had some frustrating issues with WordPress over logins, comments, and verification codes.
That generated five posts on this blog, as I expressed my frustrations, warned other bloggers, and finally told everyone it was resolved.
Late last night as I logged off my PC, I checked the stats on my blog for that day. Despite not having posted the episode of my fiction serial, and only posting about my blogging woes, I was amazed to see that it was my biggest day EVER for views on this blog, after more than seven years.
Well over 600 views in twelve hours, beating the previous busiest day by almost seventy views.
I cannot help but conclude that if you want to really boost your readership, then have a good moan about WordPress!
Well, I am lucky to have 100 views, when I post-of course, I write about things like snapping green beans and and the woes of being stranded on an old farm, with an old house! ha!

People love to read about complaints, but many are just as thrilled by posts about everyday things like snapping beans, and struggling with an old house. We all have our own ‘audience’, Michele. Keep doing what you do best!
Best wishes, Pete. 🙂

This is why I admire you-you never fail to encourage and assist others! Thank you so much for taking the time as always to brighten my world- Michele x

I am very happy to brighten your world, dear Michele. Just a shame that I live so far from the Rabbit Patch, as I would love to come and see you. x

I would love that- I would feel like I was in the presence of some one important and admirable- well, stranger things have happened! Until then, we do have the beloved WordPress-at least most of the time. haha! your friend always, Michele

No, I am not important in the least. Just a regular guy making the most of retirement. I think it would be nice to sit in your kitchen and watch you cook as we chatted. Your blog posts always make me picture you in that situation. x

You are not far off on that. The humble kitchen table has borne all sorts of sorrows . . .and secrets. We have solved problems and dreamed big, while a cake baked or a pot simmered. . .and you would be a welcomed guest. all my best, Michele

I have a glitch here that I have to keep signing in then have to refollow people 🙂 ah, what a pain in the ass…

Is it your own site? If so, it could be issues with Jetpack connecting to WordPress.
Best wishes, Pete.

Pete’s Word Press Woes—are you getting any ideas for a new serial? Maybe your main character can lose it after a tough day online.😎 I’m glad you sorted it all out.

Thanks, Pete. I could write that story about a blogger who goes ‘postal’. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

Hilarious. I spent almost an hour trying to resolve my issue today…you’ll notice I didn’t “like” your post – because I still can’t! They are unable to help me – pushing me to disable cookies and caches, which means I have to re-log in to every single website I follow – and it still did nothing! If only it gave me more views!

Is it because you have your own site, John? I have heard of others having issues with Jetpack.
Best wishes, Pete.

Not sure Pete that’s a great question…I don’t think about it because it goes through WordPress and they normally keep everything running smoothly…and if I couldn’t “like” ANY posts I could tackle that, but there are some I still can…

Not my site but when I visit you and others… even when I thought I was signed in to WP… And on 1-17-20, I had 300 spam hits on my Lara blog. That has to be a new record.

300 Spams is indeed awful, Lara. I once had 80 in one day, all ‘caught’ by WordPress, luckily.
Best wishes, Pete.

Besties. Glad you got it resolved. I’ll have to write about my new phone!

Make sure it contains a lot of complaints, then watch your views spike! 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

Yesterday, I had the privilege of reading your succession of posts in real-time on my smartphone (which for idiotic reasons I do not use to make comments or likes). I could relate to your frustrations for the impediments Microsoft and WordPress were making to your daily postings and comments. I too get frustrated with the services I am used to using become less than serviceable. You were restrained, my friend. Could it be that the view count was a function of publishing a short series in real-time over the course of your dealings with the interruptions in service? Warmest regards, Theo

I think you are right, Theo. That is exactly what caused the ‘spike’.
I downloaded the WP app onto my new smartphone the other day. Every time I tried to use it, it sent me a verification code to use to log on. When I went back into the app to enter the code, it told me it had expired, and sent another one. And so on…and on…
Last night, I uninstalled it.
Life’s too short, to try to blog on a phone. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

Considering how many people complain, you’d think they could stop tinkering for five minutes!

They do love to ‘tinker’ at WordPress. 🙂

We could all relate to your plight. And to their credit the live chats do help; they really try to resolve your problem. I’ve used it many times and usually learn something new in the process. Maybe I should share more of those to bump up my views! 😁

It worked for me, Susanne! 🙂
It’s a shame you have to have a paid plan, to use live chat. They could keep so many people happy if everyone had access.
Best wishes, Pete.

We all have the odd issue with WP, Pete, so we can all relate to your woes. We also maybe hope to learn something about a potential problem so we can solve it quicker.

Having access to the live-chat certainly helped, Robbie. When I didn’t have a paid plan, such things could drag on for days.
Best wishes, Pete.

Could it be that your followers returned time and time again to see if you’d replied to their comments, thereby indicating you’d resolved the problems you were having? Even if that’s the case, it only goes to show you how concerned and devoted your readers are to you and your blog.

Anything is possible, David. Most visitors were from the USA, with the UK next. Hard to tell if they were ‘repeat viewings’, but whatever the reason, I was pleased to see the spike in views. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

🙂 In all honesty, “WordPress” is one of the most popular tags on the WordPress Reader; therefore, I am not at all surprised that your blog posts did well.
Do enjoy the rest of your day!
