Breaking News: Boris has the virus. (Or not)

The BBC has just broadcast a ‘home video’ of our Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, saying he has to ‘self-isolate’ in his official residence.

According to him, he has had a ‘high temperature’, and a ‘persistent cough’. After testing, it was confirmed that he has the virus.

During the broadcast of three minutes or so long, he didn’t cough once. He didn’t even try to suppress a cough. And he looked very well, not at all like someone suffering from a high temperature.

According to the news report, he was ‘tested at Ten Downing Street by NHS staff’. Presumably some of those same overworked NHS staff run off their feet caring for seiously ill people in nearby London hospitals. And using test kits that are supposedly in ‘short supply’. And look how fast his results came back! Same day service, it would seem.

One of his cronies took to the telephone, stating, “This shows no matter how high you are, whether a Prince, or Prime Minister, nobody is safe from contracting this virus”.

That short statement from former Conservative Prime Minister Iain Duncan-Smith says it all. Tell the plebs the Prince has got it. Then tell us that Johnson has got it, and that’s supposed to make us feel better when one of our untested relatives dies in isolation.

My message to both Boris and Prince Charles is that I am not falling for it. Not until I see your bodies being carried out in coffins for incineration.

And even then, I want to look inside to make sure.

  1. For our politicans and other officials we only have to close the airports, and they will stay by us till the end. God for sake, the BER airport at Berlin has not become finished, before the outbreak of Covid-19. But you can be sure, they will not go all into self-isolation. Someone is keeping the light on, preventing the doors beeing locked forever. 😉 Michael

      1. Maybe, lets hope so, Pete! There is a lot of “great speeches”, but honestly no prevention for this. Just watched a documentary about. Our German government got informed in 2012, what will happen after a virus from China will arrive. They archived the study, somewhere in the Bundestag. 😉

  2. Whether he has it or not is open for debate. I am pretty sure I had it and I managed to work throughout and I was out running again as soon as my quarantine ended. I never had the cough or fever though.

    1. Believe me, he deserves it. Left everything deliberately too late so his cronies could make millions selling the pound short and buying up shares in collapsing companies. He’s conniving and evil.
      Best wishes, Pete.

      1. I would have liked the UK and Australia to move faster learning from the lessons of s say Italy which I get might be a different situation but that is my concern. Yet I still feel these leaders are trying to do what they think is best more than…look I try to avoid politics. I’m a swinging voter myself but I am appalled by what is happening in America. Regardless we’re all in for scary times. Stay safe buddy.

  3. Why don’t you say how you REALLY feel, Pete!   “A well-ordered life is like climbing a tower; the view halfway up is better thanthe view from the base, and it steadily becomes finer as the horizon expands.” – William Lyon Phelps

    1. I think he has never told the truth about anything in his life, Margie. And he is much cleverer than Trump, as he only pretends to be a buffoon. Underneath that, he is intelligent, and conniving.
      Best wishes, Pete.

    1. I am still very tired, chuq, but that’s all. My wife still has to go into work, but they are limiting the contact with the public to only one person in reception at any one time. So far, so good.
      Stay safe, my friend.
      Best wishes, Pete.

  4. Don’t know but most scientists agree (though the media doesn’t report it) that 80 percent of cases of the virus are mild. Maybe he and Charles have one of the mild cases. They said there was a cruise ship and thought most people tested positive most of them, practically all, had no symptoms or fever. I guess I can’t get on the bandwagon in the two countries of wishing death on people and living in a climate of sitting on my arse waiting for death to come. Good luck to you all.

    1. I just want to quickly add that I don’t mean this as an argument to what you are saying because I completely understand what you are saying. Despite being a communications major in college at one point, I am sometimes not very good at it. And I mean good luck to you all (and us all) sincerely, not sarcastically! I often get myself in trouble in the comment section because I’m thinking out loud and it sounds like I’m arguing.

      1. No problem at all Lisa. I have a lifelong resentment of the Royal Family and the privileged upper-class in British society. I don’t believe anything any of them say. I would never expect you, or anyone else, to feel the same, especially when you live in a Republic.
I don’t see it as arguing at all, and always appreciate any comment from you, even if you are not in agreement with what I am saying. 🙂
        Best wishes, Pete.

        1. I sort of understand it. Honestly, I’m a bit sick of hearing about them over here because our media acts like they are our royalty. If I see a story about them I always say “So? WHO CARES!?” I don’t wish ill on them but I don’t care what they do with their lives either. I don’t need to know they are going on vacation, or leaving the family, or just potty trained kid number 19, or whatever. They aren’t anyone to me. Of course, neither are “celebrities’ over here – “movie stars” etc.

  5. We noticed the absence of coughing (coffin?) too. But if it goes round the House of Commons in a big way the probability is that more than one of them will die. If the Lords get it then quite a few will die.

  6. What with Charlie boy, Johnson and Hancock being poorly, the big new hospital is going to have some interesting guests.

Be tragic if Charlie succumbed just as he’s getting in sniffing distance of getting his first job!

      1. Lisa, how about we hold responsible those who do things that hurt everyone else? Am I going to cry about corrupt politicians dying? No. I am not going to do anything to cause their death, but if nature wants to take out some of the rotten filth of humanity, I’m not going to argue.

          1. Put that dang question mark after happy… I’m so miserable now I can’t punctuate. Thanks a lot 😜 seriously – just feel like you want to – I don’t give a rats ass anymore. 😂 obviously I need some chocolate and an internet break. Stay safe and healthy!

            1. I know! I did, didn’t I!? Yeah..I think everything is getting to me and I snapped for a moment. Seriously, still wishing you good health and I’ve chilled way out since that comment. I’m actually laughing at how stupid I sounded right now and your comment about overreaction even made me laugh because you are spot on!

              1. No worries. I normally wouldn’t wish harm on anyone, but when you see people who constantly do bad things and hurt multitudes of people it is harder to feel sad about their demise if it happens. Kind of like how most people have a hard time feeling sorry for a child molester or rapist who winds up dead.

                1. Listen, I get it. I do. The more I think about your comment (though I tried not to because my reaction was over the top as you said) the more I get where you are coming from. I mean that. It can be hard for us to admit when we reacted too quickly, but I can in this moment because I did. I truly see your point of view. Have I said truly enough yet? I think I have. 😉

  7. I’m not going to criticize your PM, Pete. It’s just a courtesy that I have, though I’m sure you wouldn’t mind. I will, however, take this opportunity to rag on Trump.
With the exception of possibly Idi Amin, I can’t imagine anyone mishandling the coronavirus pandemic any worse. I hope I’m wrong about this.
In Nashville, for example we have 300 cases and, so far, 12 hospitalizations. That sounds relatively benign until you do the math. That’s a 36% hospitalization rate, way above the Center of Disease Control’s projection of what a severe pandemic would constitute and we haven’t got to the peak, which duration lasts 21 days. If this trend holds, we are in big trouble right here in Nashville–a metropolitan area of 2 million people–and our governor won’t order a shelter in place.

      1. Bad math on my part, is what it is. More like 3.6% but of course that’s not right either, but it’s a lot closer to the correct–I think–4%. So at this point, Nashville is running behind pandemic projections. That’s a good thing. That’s a hopeful thing. Thanks for the correction.

  8. You’ve sniffed them out, I’d say. BBC’s sycophantic WATO coverage about our Carry On Self-Isolating PM should have alerted any but his bluest admirers to a sickly government spin. Who’s going to tell the difference, anyway?

  9. I’ve read this from several sources – the idea that Prince Charles doesn’t have the virus but it’s a good “look” for the Royal family. Interesting and so sad if true, and a real statement about our times that it COULD be the case…here in the US, many NBA basketball players tested positive after a first was announced, raising the question: how did they all get tests when there was such a short supply here? Hmmmm…..$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ perhaps?

    1. You can still pay for tests here, if you can afford it. But why are they tying up resources for private patients, instead of testing front-line doctors and nurses? Shocking.
      Best wishes, Pete.

  10. I laughed out loud at your last line, Pete. It’s like very badly thought out propaganda – look, even the ‘great and the good’ can get this so you plebs better start toeing the line. I hope his pregnant partner insists he doesn’t come anywhere near her.

  11. What made me angry is that Prince Charles has sloped off to Balmoral, taking the virus with him, when Nicola Sturgeon said that people mustn’t go to the Highlands and Boris reiterated that nobody must visit their holiday homes. It’s one rule for them and another one for us.

  12. Hi Pete – we’ve got Trump supporters here, who are listening to the Great Leader expound on how he wants to open America by Easter (with gloriously filled churches) come out and state they are willing to die for the economy!

    Patriots all.

Makes me feel like a useless, eater. Himmler is laughing his ass off somewhere.

    1. Well, as our ever so wonderful Lieutenant Governor here in Texas said, it would be patriotic [because it would be for the greater good of America] for older people just to die. He’d be happy to do that for his grandchildren. Unfortunately, he has not yet followed his own advice.
