I am in the middle of the process of trying to get my kitchen brought into the 21st century.
This has involved a huge amount of cleaning, as well as discarding numerous things that I had kept, ‘just in case’.
As a result, I am absolutley exhausted tonight, and unable to keep up with all your posts.
I am sorry, but I assure you that ‘normal service’ will be resumed soon. Meanwhile, if I have not read your post, or liked and commented, now you know why.
Best wishes, Pete.
Thank goodness I’m not alone.

Hope you’re getting on ok with it Pete….I imagine your kitchen just like Bob Hoskins’ temple to delicious treats in Felicia’s Journey!

Not quite as vintage as that mate. (Great film though!) I have to make the dreaded drive to B&Q on Thursday, to select tiles and colour choices with my wife. Of course, whatever she decides will be perfect for me! 🙂
Cheers, Pete.

Re-organizing the Kitchen -Yahoo! Once done, it’ll be good to go for another 5-20 years, right? LOL – I’m doing the same here and there as time permits – to get work stations lined up for various operations, and to organize things that in way that better fits with our daily life of me not spending all day fixing complicated dishes for 3 meals a day NOR just defaulting to ‘crackers and cheese for supper – take it or leave it cuz there is no milk for a bowl of cereal” operations – 😀

It is a very dated style, built-in by the previous owner around 1990. But it is arranged quite well, so we are just having the wooden doors painted, and the multi-coloured tiles replaced with a neutral tone. After that the whole room is being painted. We may also get some new flooring, but that will have to wait for now.
Best wishes, Pete.

Thanks, Sue. Easier day today, just a visit from the tiler to give an estimate. Very hot weather though, so still weary tonight. 🙂

Well as it appears to be the driest May on record, I am not really complaining. Had to sleep with a fan on all night though.

Waiting for a date when the painter can start after the tiling is finished. Might not be happening until mid-June now.

I’m not doing the work, chuq. I am clearing everything away and washing down for the guys I am paying to do it. I take retirement seriously! 🙂 🙂

Are you doing this yourself? Kitchens are big jobs.

God forbid! Not only do I not want to do it, I am hopeless! It is just a ‘rehash’ of what we have now. New tiles, and existing cupboards painted over. I will just pay the two guys; one to tile, the other to paint. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

I have done some of the ‘labouring’, and the tiler is coming in to estimate tomorrow. When he has finished, the painter is going to cover the existing cupboards with a slightly more modern (paint) finish. That’s it. I haven’t got the cash to spare for a full re-fit. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

Well you might remember my posts on our full refit, 4 months of a bloody nightmare, so you are probably doing it with less stress.

I was considering changing my kitchen until I read this, maybe replacing the oven and hob is less stressful 😲

Just having the tiling changed, and doors painted. Paying someone else to do it lessens the stress. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

Mine’s quite modern but worn. I’d like a complete new kitchen and I don’t even mind the expense as money in the bank is worthless now, might as well invest in the property. But I want it done quickly!

Yes not cheap, still paying for ours which is why we did it while both still working, should be paid for by the time we stop!

A 21st century kitchen is very important these days Pete! Besides, you have plenty of time on your hands what with retirement and lockdown! Best from Florida!

I’m not doing it! I will be ‘getting a man in’. I am just clearing it all up ready. All we are doing is haveing new tiling, and the existing cupboards painted over the current wood finish. A newly-built kitchen would cost around £15,000, and I can’t spare that. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.
