The Twitter Cascade

I am once again struggling to keep on top of Twitter. As I tried to read a tweet earlier, in anticipation of leaving a comment, it disappeared. Overwhelmed by the cascade of new tweets, so many of which were the same tweets being retweeted, seemingly every few seconds.

Anyway, I just wanted to once again thank everyone who retweets any of my blog posts.

You know who you are, and you are all much appreciated.

Sorry I cannot get the chance to thank you on Twitter, but there have been another 200 tweets since I started typing this!

  1. Yes, twitter can get a bit overwhelming. I don’t think it’s possible to read every single tweet that scrolls down your screen.
    Hmm… I do read every tweet that I like or retweet though. I don’t know about others. That is a great question.

  2. No problem Pete! I only use Twitter by a WP-plugin, which reposts automatically the reblogged postings to Twitter. I had began Instagram two years in the past, and had quit a year ago. There is too much to watch, read and comment, it would take more than the half of my day. Michael

  3. It’s impossible, Pete. Don’t worry. I gave up long ago. Every so often I try to retweet people’s content, but I can’t keep up with that either. Everybody who uses it knows. Take care.

  6. I keep my blog and twitter separate unless I have something quick to say or a picture I want to post. I don’t think the people who read my tweets are the same people who read my blog.My family don’t read this blog but do sometimes tweet.This is for thoughtful writing,not instant comment.

    1. I read quite a few, but I mostly retweet the posts of bloggers I follow. I do try to look out for yours, Sally’s, Debby’s and Olga’s. I retweet those when I have time.

      1. I’m glad to know you read some and thanks for tweeting mine. I actually pick up quite a few posts from twitter too, but I didn’t think many other people actually read what they retweeted. I don’t ever share something I haven’t read in case the content isn’t something I would stand by.

  12. Your post really hit home, Pete. I’ve been watching my Twitter feed lately in growing dismay. How does anyone see anything posted there? I’m going to shamelessly reblog your wise words in the hopes the lovely folks who retweet me might understand why I hardly ever Tweet, but sure do appreciate their efforts!

  21. I don’t “keep up” with Twitter. Most of the time, I just scroll down a bit and comment or like, then return to the top. Sometimes I’ll use the “Search Twitter” field to send me to a particular tweep’s home page so that I can see all his tweets.

    1. I am a very ‘low-key’ follower, John. I don’t know how others cope. Well I sort-of do. They use apps or groups to retweet their tweets and issue standard replies. Most of those I follow are nice people, but I literally just cannot keep up with this ‘Twitterlanche’!
