A Mystery Gift?

***UPDATE***

I contacted Amazon on the phone, and spoke to a young lady who cleared this up.

Sort-of.

I had ordered a pack of spring door-stops, and for some reason, the code number for those translated incorrectly to an order with a Marketplace seller for the Mamma Mia DVD! I now have to return the DVD, to get a refund for the door stops, which will not be arriving. ๐Ÿ™‚

You couldn’t make it up.ย

To be fair to Amazon, I have never had this problem before, and have been a customer since they started.

When I got back from an early walk with Ollie, there was an Amazon delivery for me that had been posted through the letterbox. The envelope had all my details correct, printed on the usual Amazon form, including my alternative delivery instructions. It felt like a DVD film was inside the padded bag.

But I hadn’t ordered any DVD films from Amazon, so I was intrigued.

It was a film inside, a new copy of the special edition of ‘Mamma Mia’, starring Pierce Brosnan and Meryl Streep. It was the ‘Singalong Edition’, according to the cover, and had many extras on a special second DVD that was included.

That got me thinking it must be some kind of joke, as anyone who knows me will be aware that I couldn’t care less about Abba, and would sooner watch two hours of grass growing than ever bother with that film.

So I am posting this in the hope that whoever sent it will let me know why, before I donate it to a charity shop. ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚I can’t stop laughing. That is definitely not a gift because whoever knows Pete cannot gift him ‘Mamma Mia Singalong Dvd’. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚it has to be a mistake for sure. If I am to send you a gift then it will be a postcard and hard cash. I will be like, “please buy yourself whatever YOU LIKE”๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚. I had a laugh like this after a long time and I am sick so it hurts laughing like this๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ’–โœŒ๐Ÿ˜Š

      1. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚I knew that it was a mistake. Hope you find a good place to buy the doorstop springs. ๐Ÿ’–โœŒ๐Ÿ˜Š.

P.S. nobody can send you Mamma Mia Singalong DVD. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ not even in their wildest dreams๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

  2. I got a pink IPhone cover at Christmas instead of the Blues CD for the OH. He wasn’t at all interested in the sparkly pink cover, I can’t think why not! Luckily they re-ordered the CD and I returned the cover. Simples. Not so simple was the double charge they made concerning an expensive camera which took an awful lot of sorting out. I was almost having a nervous breakdown.

  3. We had a box of lightbulbs in a damaged box thrown on the doorstep by an Amazon deliverer today but that is nothing compared to when I ordered a new ipad and received a packet of cocoa pops!

  4. Mamma Mia! Sorry, couldnโ€™t help myself here๐Ÿ˜‚ True enough though this is a mystery๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค” I recently ordered something from Amazon and I never received the package. It was a real shame as I had been looking forward to that one very much.I did get a full refund, so thereโ€™s that, but I would have rather received my package๐Ÿ˜”

      1. Haha…well…to deepen the mystery, what if it only seems like itโ€™s solved? The lady on the phone from amazon just gave you a solution…but what if sheโ€™s in on the conspiracy? ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค”

    1. I need those doorstops to keep the handles from banging onto the new paintwork. I could happily live without ever watching ‘Mamma Mia’ on DVD. ๐Ÿ™‚
      Best wishes, Pete.

    1. This is a free return with a label, and only because it was from a third party seller.
They don’t often make mistakes here, which is quite remarkable, given how many orders they process.
      Best wishes, Pete.

  5. How odd, Pete. I received a package from Amazon this week containing a book I had not ordered – I’ve already read it on my Kindle! I’m not going to go to the palaver of sorting it out. I ordered several ebooks recently so I guess that’s where the mix-up happened.
There have been lots of people receiving mysterious packets of seeds – The Bloggess posted about hers, which she planted. An article in my paper yesterday said some people are receiving seeds, others get rings and other pieces of jewellery. Someone put a photo on FB of the ring her mother received, saying it was correctly addressed to her and then ended her post, “Is it safe to open the package?” Um, well, as you’ve photographed the ring isn’t it a bit late for that question?

  6. Another blogging friend, Petra Jacobs (inkbiotic.com) got a seeds package. She has potted them and growing them and we are all waiting for them to grow into carnivorous alien plants. ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ Let’s see how it goes!
However, if packages are unmarked, how do we know they come from China?

  7. Shame it wasn’t a DVD you might have actually wanted! I haven’t heard of brushing before: I find all these machinations for the sake of increasing market share very tedious: always chasing “the almighty dollar”. Cheers, Jon.

      1. Just off the phone. I ordered a pack of spriing doorstops, and the code was entered incorrectly somewhere. So I got this DVD instead. I now have to return if for a refund, and re-order the doorstops as they will be shown as ‘Cancelled and refunded’. What a palaver, as my Mum would have said!
