On the recent holiday to Lincolnshire, we walked just over three miles to the nearby town of Mablethorpe. This rather down-market seaside resort is still very popular, and as well as a busy beach, it has an old fashioned park with a boating lake.
(All photos can be fully enlarged by clicking on them.)
The swan boats were all stored in the centre, as there was no boating going on, presumably because of Covid-19.
Someone was working on the red boats that day.
Beautiful pix. Is that a lake. Looks beautiful😊

It is a boating lake; not very deep, and man-made. Glad you like the photos. 🙂

Picture #1: That bird is busy enforcing the “Keep Right” rule. As to how he would intervene should a boater defy the law and go left, the bird admits that he’ll have to cross that bridge when he comes to it.
Picture #2: I think Marcel Proust had a Swann boat.
Picture #3: I see red boats 1, 2, 5, 9, and 10. I think boats 3,4, 6, 7, and 8 were sad and blue because no one photographed them. I might be wrong, but it’s a theory worth floating.
Picture #4: Boat 2 is on a leash. Someone can walk on water!

Good to see that in the absence of fiction, you are punning any available post. Nice work with the Swann In Love reference! 🙂

Looks like a nice trip Pete…it is strange right now to visit places that are closed or partially open due to the pandemic…hopefully, we can get back to whatever our “new normal” is gong to be so that these businesses can survive

That area is unchanged since the 1950s, John. I am sure it will manage to endure.

So peaceful. And hopefully those swan boats and the newly painted will be back in use. Stay Safe.

I went on swan boats in Boston. I didn’t realize that they existed anywhere else. Nice to see.

Yes, the swan pedalos are usually very popular there, but it was late season.

There’s a lake with swan boats exactly like those where we are at Ryde, IOW. As at Mablethorpe, the swan boats there are closed too. What a shame.

To be fair to the operator, Stevie, there were very few people in the park that early afternoon. What families with kids that were around could mostly be seen on the beach.
Best wishes, Pete.

Yes, the town beyond was very busy, as was the beach. But the park was almost deserted. I like the old-world feel of that little park a lot. It also has a crazy golf and miniature railway, but they were both closed up.
Best wishes, Pete.

A very welcoming sight, Pete. It looks well kept, clean, nice and tidy – and lots of red always look well. Very good, apart from the one thing missing in all your photos; dear 🐕 Ollie! 😉
But I think I know where to find him …
“A small park in a seaside town where nothing has changed in decades.” That wouldn’t fit anywhere on the North Norfolk Coast, going so upmarket that locals hardly can afford to settle.
It’s quite a windy day in Cley today, but lots of sunshine. Hope you and Ollie are enjoying your walk.
Best regards from the four of us,
Dina

Ollie was as camera shy as always, but I got him on a beach a few days later!

Looks rather quaint, but quite enjoyable. The bridge is very well-kept, which is a good sign. Cheers, Jon.

It has that unchanged feel that I always like about British seaside resorts at the ‘lower end’ of the market.
