Thirty minutes ago, I went out into the kitchen to make a coffee, and was startled to discover that is is snowing heavily in Beetley.
Then Julie came back from a hospital appointment and told me that much of the neighbouring county of Suffolk has had heavy snowfalls, necessitating school closures in some areas.
Fortunately, the snow here is not settling on ground that is still too wet from yesterday’s rain. And that snow is set to depart the east of England by the time it is dark later.
But it gave me a shock. As most of you know, I don’t like snow!
We had a sprinkle in Essex and then it was gone as soon as it appeared.

It only lasted until 1 pm here, fortunately.

Tons of moisture here today vacillating between cold rain and wet snow. I expect this evening as the temperature goes down it will be all snow. Fortunately our town does an excellent job at plowing. Unfortunately we have nowhere to go!

It didn’t last, luckily. Tonight we have -1C and thick fog! π

I’m the same, Carol. Great to look at, but a nightmare to get around in with the failed infrastructure over here.

(3) Most snowflakes in Beetley fall neatly and discreetly, but not completely.

And all that from some light snow that was gone by 1pm. Well done, David! π

Not a cloud here in the Pacific North Wet. indee, it is likely if this keeps up we will loose our wet designation. π Warmest regards, Theo

I was shocked, too, Pete, to wake up to see a covering of snow. The cat came in and shouted at me as if it was my fault! It didn’t stay for long but it’s really, really cold and rainy.

Why is that as weather forecasting gets more technologically sophisticated, it gets more unreliable?

They said ‘possible sleet’. We got that after the snow. π

I just realized Beetley is a place. Thought it was part of your name.
I googled it and looked down upon it. And …. no. I see no snow.
You must be mistaken, sir! π

Beetley sees that mistake so often, it is a habit to be surprised! π

It didn’t settle, and it stopped at 1 pm, changing to rain.
Many people make that mistake about Beetley. π

Thank you. So nice to read and look at the year 2016 when things were so normal and nice.
Perhaps that is why we blog now so we can get away from things that are not so normal or nice.

π± You mean he goes out in T-shirt when it is above zero? I wear three sweaters, two pair of socks and gloves and cover my head with a woolen scarf at that temperature. Not to mention, it is all with the heater on!
