It is only the 17th of february today, but to me it already feels like the 44th of February. Strange how the shortest month can seem so long, especially after arriving as it did with severe winter weather, and a reminder that Spring might still be some way off.
Valentine’s Day is halfway through the month, but to me it already feels like that happened three weeks ago.
And this year is not even a Leap Year, when that extra day on the 29th feels more like an extra week.
I once worked with someone whose birthday was the 29th of February. He made quite a lot of the fact that his birth date was only once every four years. When he was 32, his wife gave him a birthday card with ‘8 Today!’ on the front.
He loved February, for obvious reasons. I don’t like it, for my reasons.
Come on March, get here soon!
Ever since my stroke I have had HUGE time displacement issues (my phrase to explain to others my inner landscape when I rush in one area or drop the ball in another….sigh). From all I’ve read this past year? 2020/COVID year gave a large part of the population a glimpse and/or CRASH course on this inner ‘displacement’ feeling – on many fronts – and it’s hard to adjust to it WHILE still connecting with the society one interacts with, even when the rest of society understands, logically, the mechanics of such things – 🙂

Time changed a lot for me when I stopped working and retired. I see days and months very differently to when they had a workplace structure to them.
Best wishes, Pete.

It can’t come soon enough, hopefully the extra 6 inches on snow yesterday is that last of it and the melt will start over the weekend.

We have no snow left now, but it became a lot of mud instead. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

Great post Pete 🙂 I too would love to get to March already 🙂 Anyway, keep up the great work as always 🙂

You are absolutely correct!! It seems that time is really variable. January passed in a whisker but the shortest is suddenly behaving like a turtle 🐢..

Very glad to hear that you agree, Babri.

Can we just skip March and move into April? March is truly ‘in like a lion, out like a lamb’, plus mud and more mud. Best to you, Pete.

No, we cannot skip March at all. Sorry! Because it’s my birthday on the 16th. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

February is a great month for getting outdoors, and going on a warm and sunny hike in the desert! I hope the month lasts another 44 days!

Yes, it does all depend where you live of course. Late summer in Australia! 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

Winter is one season out of four, but it seems so much longer than the other three combined.

You got that completely right, Maggie! 🙂

I’ve always been resentful of being born in February. This year it’s been especially tough due to the weather woes plaguing so much of the U.S.

Julie doesn’t like having her January birthday. Too soon after Christmas, and usually bad weather too.
Best wishes, Pete.

I’m not down with March either. In fact I’m not down with any month from October-April. I can’;t wait for May, as then we get June, July and August; my fave of all as they have the strongest possibilities of the mercury hitting 80f.

I also enjoy hot weather, WN. But I usually find August too humid at night.
March is my birthday month, which is why I am always banging on about it. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

As you’ve seen, much of the US is under severe weather conditions, with more than a foot of snow in various parts of the country…February is making itself known, that’s for sure!

They showed Texas on the news. That was a shock, John.

Yes Pete and their handling of it in that state is shameful. Oh, the Governor tried to blame Democrats for it…we can’t even deal with weather without politicizing it!

I always think January and February are to be endured. It’s much better in March when the daffodils are out in the garden.

March is when it starts to feel as if winter is over. Most years, anyway. 🙂

I’m with you, Pete. This cold, is not my cup of tea. Spring can’t get here fast enough, and I only hope it will be a long Spring.

I’m with you there too, Ron. 🙂

I thought January was interminable. This month not so bad, but there have been three family birthdays already and the days are longer and snowdrops and crocuses and now daffodils flowering and I even got outside one afternoon to cut back the clematis! But I am sick of the rain and damp and that cold!
But I know the real reason you are keen for March to arrive… 🎁 🎂 😁🤗

(Might still be a lockdown birthday though!)

In some ways this month has dragged but at the same time time seems to fly by for me. I saw my first lambs yesterday so that cheered me up.

50/50 for me, really Pete: yes, it can be cold & dreary outside [and the current restrictions don’t help there, either], but it’s my older brother’s birthday on the 14th, it’s a Council-Tax payment-free month [if one pays by DD] and, tawdry financial considerations aside, the days are now noticeably longer and there is some real warmth in the sun, when it appears, so all in all, I don’t mind February [notwithstanding the propensity for its name to be mispronounced 😉 ]. Cheers, Jon.

Yes, that ‘R’ is often overlooked. Including by me! 🙂

Come to think of it, I usually say ‘Febree’, so the ‘R’ is included. 🙂

Thanks, Jack. I know that sounds bad, but February has always seemed such a drag. And this year more than ever, for some reason. (Maybe it’s the lockdowns?)
Best wishes, Pete.

Wishing your life away there Pete 🙂 but only 11 days to go until March. It’s Phils birthday on the 2nd so it can hold on as far as I’m concerned as I haven’t figutred out what to get him yet!

Yes, I shouldn’t wish my life away, but it has been a real draggy month this year. 🙂
