Many new bloggers ask what they are doing wrong. They get few views, almost no comments, and feel unhappy about the lack of followers.
With that in mind, I wrote this ‘advice’ post on the 14th of this month.
https://beetleypete.com/2021/02/14/blogging-lead-by-example/
So far, it has been viewed over 500 times.(Update on 27/2/21 Now 900 views!)
It has received 256 ‘Likes’.
Comments on the post number more than 115. (231 if you count my replies)
More than 30 bloggers have followed my blog as a direct result of reading this post.
It seems to me that this post has provided the answer to your question.
Perhaps you should be writing about blogging? 🙂
The post linked is how I found you! It was on my discovery feed 🙂

Thanks, Jennie. It wasn’t really meant to be sarcastic, just a little ‘tease’. 🙂

I feel like writing again. That was inspiring. 🙂 I blog in fits and starts but never quite disappear.

If this inspired you to write, then I am very happy, Delilah.

I had a reader continue to whine about no followers, etc. I explained what I did and told him he ‘had to work for it’. I haven’t seen him lately…. 🤪

So many new bloggers expect things to happen almost overnight. I keep telling them, it takes years, not weeks.

They tend to forget that there are billions of blogs online from around the world.

I am not that popular in the WP universe so all I can do is tell them what I am doing and they should go in another direction….LOL chuq

I wonder that too Fraggle, the days I only get a trickle of views are deflating even now, after years of blogging. But I love to write, it sorts me, so I stay. Love the community too! C

Remember why we started, Cheryl. Even if we write for ourselves, and nobody reads it, that is still rewarding for those of us who blog for the right reasons. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

Very true. Start for yourself and see what comes out of it. If you find you want to write for the masses, you need to do your research to find out what people want.

Hard to know. Most of the 2012 club are still going, but we are generally older, and work hard at blogging.
Best wishes, Pete.

Thanks so much for these tips. A retiree like you, I setup my blog three years ago, and have struggled to understand how to proceed. I’m back at it now. I look forward to more of your posts.

And you should know, Stevie. 🙂
The stats get interesting at times.
Fiction serial episode- 88 views.
Blogging advice post- 500 views.
If they want views, it seems fiction takes a back seat. But we will still write it! 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

Very true. Anything about writing and the stats shoot up. The trouble is, most of it has already been written about hundreds of times before.

Yes, it has. But there are always new readers keen to see it, so it seems. 🙂

Rather than writing about blogging, perhaps I should be blogging about writing?
