Some memories fade.
I can no longer remember the sound of her voice.
And her smile.
Was it as crooked as I now recall?
Her final farewell.
I remember that all too clearly.

it is hard to forget the goodbyes sometimes. 🙂

They are the memories that arrive unwanted, Wilma.

I assumed this was about a former love, and was glad to see I was correct. I think it was the emphasis on the end. I can clearly remember those too.

Thanks, Elizabeth. My first wife, 1977-1985.
I haven’t seen nor spoken to her since 1987. And it would seem that I can no longer recall her at all.
Best wishes, Pete.

I was once engaged to a man that I can’t recall at all, much less why we were engaged.

I remember a lot more about her than that. 🙂

We may well sugar-coat them, chuq. This was more about something I cannot remember at all.
Best wishes, Pete.

I have a cassette tape my father recorded for me. I love hearing his voice for a moment, then it breaks me a little to know he is no longer here.

Good to have that tape though, Maggie.
Best wishes, Pete.

Given what you have written in the past, I assumed you were writing about your Mum. Warmest regards, Theo

This note was about my first wife, Theo.
I can still hear my mum’s voice.
Best wishes, Pete.

I was just thinking of my mum as I painted, but no sound, which I hadn’t realised until I read your thought.

It gets harder to remember the voice. Young people are much luckier, as they have VHS videos, and phone video clips too.
Best wishes, Pete.

This reminds me of trying to hang on to my memories of my dad.

They get cloudier as the years go by. But I think you will always remember your dad. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

Write them down, then put them away in a drawer.
