In moments of anger this often happens. That is why it is wise to curb anger and count 10 and keep counting so the harsh words do not lash out to cause lasting damage. Best to walk away and segregate yourself in a heated moment
The advantage of realizing how much we have screwed up ourselves might allow us to be a little less critical. Sadly this often doesn’t seem to be the case with folks. I know, however, that you have learned from previous bad behavior and changed in your current life.
This is a particularly painful memory of my actions during the break-up of a relationship that I cannot go into detail about on here. I said and did something very bad.
Best wishes, Pete.
Oh no. That ship sailed in 1989. But I still feel bad about what I said and did. (Even though there was some justification for my retaliation at the time) She told a mutual friend that she hoped I died of a painful cancer, at a young age.
Thank you. It’s not really intended to be poetry. They are just thoughts I wrote down in a notebook, during 2019. Some are about my life, others just observations. I suppose they can be read as poetry by some.
Best wishes, Pete.

I should have taken that advice decades ago, Shammi.
Too late now, I’m afraid.

Now this is a perfect example of why it’s better to look forward, and not back. Don’t dwell on things you can’t change. 🙂

I can’t stop the memories coming into my mind though. I have never learned how to do that.
Best wishes, Pete.

The old adage is best: If we cannot say anything nice, then it’s best to say nothing at all. I wish I’d listened to this when I was younger, lol.

Write her a letter and keep it in your desk. It’ll always be there to be found in the future.

Yes, some things said in haste can never be undone. The pain lingers for a lifetime at times. But then that’s what makes us human. We kill with words.

I may never have killed, but I have certainly done some damage, Shaily.
Best wishes, Pete.

We are all humans, Pete. We hurt those we love. Some pain never dies. But it is okay to forgive yourself. Human is to err.

I love the flow of the words here. Very lyrical. It’s a gentle stream that has narrowed from a waterfall.
