The ball must have bounced right over me.
Too high for me to see.
It was in the back of the net.
Before I even realised it had been kicked.
Only the celebration of the scorer to make me aware.
A sporting career over, before it began.

Ah! I am afraid of foot ball, basket ball, volley ball, cricket ball, even table tennis ball… Whenever they come my way, I let them pass. My sports career never began.

The old-fashioned leather footballs could really hurt when they hit you. Especially when they were wet.

Why not mate? It must have been funny to see as a spectator at the time. 🙂

‘Mouseketeers’? 🙂
I know what they are, but we didn’t get them here.

The only sports I was decent at were tennis and archery. I was a better watcher and cheerleader.

I was hopeless at tennis too. We didn’t have archery at my school. Too dangerous, considering some of the kids that went there! 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

I was a cheerleader..but never an athlete.

From an early age, I learned that sport was never going to be my career. 🙂
Cheerleaders are popular though, as I understand it.

It was my first ‘selection’ for a junior football (soccer) team. I was only 9 at the time.
My dad had bought me new football boots and the team colours especially, but I was never picked to play again. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.
