We all need something to cheer us up, and this worked for me.
My friend Antony sent me this clip of a cat watching a horror film. The cat’s reactions are great, and prove beyond doubt that it knows something bad is going on.
This may be old news to some of you, but if you haven’t seen it, it’s only one minute long.
That’s pretty funny. My dog never watched tv, but when Casualty came on, his ears would prick up, his head would go up and he would howl until the theme ended. Then he would lie back down as if it never happened.

That electronic synthesiser music does worry some dogs. I suppose it is a frequency that affects them a lot.
Best wishes, Pete.

Loved it! Though, poor cat! I can totally get her. I have watched horror films while closing my eyes and ears (if possible).

It is an effective little film. My dog Ollie never even glances at the TV, so is not scared by films.
Best wishes, Pete.

Lol, it’s anyway a very calm cat. Our cat would have hit the television. 😉 Thank you for sharing, Pete! Best wishes, Michael

That was something. The looks on her face register pure terror. This YouTube video came up next for me, which was interesting because we can view what the dog sees. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uffjKmTBjTI

My wife showed me the bulldog one. Strange, as our dog Ollie never looks at the TV. He doesn’t seem to notice anything on it.
Best wishes, Pete.

Our dog is oblivious as well, but then that fits her lovable, dufus personality.

I can’t believe how long the cat stayed focused before finally fleeing. Our dog watches sheep herding when it is on the television, perhaps because she was brought up to herd sheep(although she only herds us now.)

Olly never even glances at our TV. It appears to be of no interest to him at all.
If dogs are barking on a programme, he sits up alert, believing them to be in the room. But he never looks at the screen.
Best wishes, Pete.

I watched it four times, and then shared it with a handful of friends and family. After that, I watched a number of Dodo films in which animals (baby kangaroo, white squirrel, groundhog, exotic birds) befriended humans. But this cat video was the best! I wonder if the cat was watching Dario Argento’s giallo, “Cat o’ Nine Tails”?

He was certainly heavily involved in the horror, David. 🙂

We had a cat that took notice of what was on. If things ran across the screen he was riveted on them. Warmest regards, Theo

We once had a cat that loved anything on tv that included animals. She would often get into the hunting position and pounce at the prey.

Strange that it was so fascinated. Ollie never even glances at the TV, let alone sits and watches it.

I thought it was unusual for a pet to react to the TV, but my wife showed me many other similar clips after I posted this.

My wife showed me a video of a bulldog watching a horror film. He became similarly distressed by the scenes on TV. My dog Ollie takes little notice of the TV, unless there are dogs barking during a programme.
Best wishes, Pete.
