Happy Lockdown Birthday To Me!

Today is my 69th birthday!

(No sixty-nine jokes, please. This is a family blog. 🙂 )

(Not my actual cake.)

Regular readers will know that I make a big deal of my birthdays. I usually string them out over a full week, and on the day I take a trip to the seaside, followed by a nice restaurant meal in the evening.

But in 2021, none of that can happen.

Instead it will be the usual walk with Ollie, opening cards and presents, then a nice takeaway meal this evening.

I would like to wish a happy birthday to any fellow Piscean who shares this day with me. I hope to be able to post something similar next year, when I will be 70.

That’s a nice round number.

Okay, all together now. Sing along with Clare!

  1. Thanks for the post and the song birthday boy. I think your 70th is going to be a lot more fun but the 69th sounded real good to me. Take-away, time with wife, Ollie. Living the dream mate. Best wishes Pete.

  2. I’ve spent so many birthdays when no one remembered it was my birthday over my adulting it years, that well, I guess, I’ll start celebrating mine on purpose more often – just so it’s ‘special’ to me’ and I can celebrate like you do – since it sounds like a rocking good time – i did that the year I turned 50 then I went right back to waking up and thinking, “okay, technically? year older – but time to go to work…” – – LOL

  3. Happy Birthday Pete,
I drag my birthday out also (if I can get away with it) it helps when I can use the card, “oh actually I was born in England so its not the 28th there yet” Always knew there was a reason why I came out to NZ
Any way have a great day / week

  4. I saw you in the video admiring Clare Grogan. Just a reminder, Pete, that she’s Gregory’s girl. No touchy-touchy! Now that you’ve (probably) left the party, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! So I”m not permitted to screw around with 69 jokes? Dang!

    1. You did your best with that one, which is allowed.
Clare still looks good today, aged 58. Not the greatest singer or actress, but cute enough to get away with a career doing both.
      Thanks, David.
      Best wishes, Pete.

  5. Have a great day Pete. Maybe book a holiday away somewhere special for next year. All being well we will be able to travel by then, but even going to a restaurant would be nice. So many lockdown birthdays. The ones I feel most sorry for are those 18 year olds.

    1. Thanks, Jude. At least those 18 year-olds have many more birthdays ahead of them. 🙂
I just had a great birthday lunch, photos on my latest post. All home-cooked!
Not too bothered about going abroad, but it would be nice to have a family celebration in a nice restaurant next year.
      Best wishes, Pete. x

  6. Happy Birthday, Pete. You have much in common with my father who loved to celebrate every birthday to the fullest extent possible. I hope the day treats you well and that you find joy around every turn. 🎂

    1. I don’t have a cake as such. But I do have home made cupcakes, an assortment of Baklava, and Julie has made scotch eggs, quiche, and sausage rolls!
And that’s just for lunch! 🙂
      Best wishes, Pete.

    1. A selection of mixed kebab styles from a local place that I am never sure whether is Greek, or Turkish. Julie tried it a few weeks ago, and it looked excellent. She has also made me home-made scotch eggs, quiches, and sausage rolls, for a ‘high tea’ later. 🙂
      Best wishes, Pete.

  7. Happy Birthday, Pete. I was under lockdown for my birthday in January and couldn’t even celebrate with a cuppa in a cafe. Well, not strictly true I suppose but it would have necessitated breaking and entering.. I wish you a nice evening with Ollie. Just wait till you get old like me and can’t even remember Clare Grogan.
    Hugs

    1. Thanks, David. My wife was 60 in January, and she had to settle for a takeaway meal, and a present to come later. I can never forget cute little Clare. 🙂
      (She still looks great now)
      Best wishes, Pete.
