    1. I was only 7, and lived in a flat in London. There were no chores to do, Susanne. My mum would have said ‘read a book’. I had probably read every book I owned by then. πŸ™‚

    1. Thanks, Carolyn. It was a bad winter, or I would have been out playing in the street. There wasn’t much on TV during the day in 1959, and as my dad was asleep, (after a lunchtime session in the pub) I wouldn’t have been allowed to watch it anyway. πŸ™‚

      1. Ah, the non-joys of having to be quiet for sleeping fathers, who’ve had a few (too many).

        Living in Australia as a kid meant it was almost always ok weathewise, to be outside to race around, while male parents slept off their indiscretion with the grog …
