    So I suppose I can do it, but it is definitely not as intuitive as the old Classic Editor.

    3. I started blogging on WP in September so have only ever used the Block Editor; even so, it took some getting used to but I didn’t actually realise that there was anything else available until some time later. One day I might even dare give the Classic one a go… 🙂

          1. I’m sure they are going to get rid of Classic by the end of the year, Jennie. I just wanted to see if I could manage a ‘normal’ post once it has gone. It’s either that, or having to abandon my beloved hobby of blogging for good.

      1. Well, I think it’s totally unnecessary. I also don’t believe that WP could not have left it as an option for those who don’t want to change. It just complicated the process of achieving the same result. So I still don’t like it, and will only use it when all other options run out. 🙂

      1. Thanks for the forecast, John. Yes, it is going to warm up, but sadly that also means it will rain. I can’t win! 🙂
        I am back on Classic editor now, after my one-post experimant with Blocky. I will dontinue to wait for the hammer to fall on Classic.

    16. I’m getting used to it, but it’s a different way of doing things. I’ve been using the block editor for a few months now and have noticed that some of the features are better and save time, but they are definitely not intuitive! Great test run!

    18. Good for you Pete. It honestly does get easier the more you use it and you may even grow to like some of the features. At least now you’ll know that when Classic bites the dust you can use Mr. Blocky if you choose. 😊

    21. You can definitely do it and also it works well with your theme which is not always the case. I’ve done some experimenting on my sweetheart’s blog as he has never used the classic but am still using the classic version myself. The main issue is it inserts blocks where we don’t want them and some are tricky/impossible to remove. They don’t show except in edit mode, but it isn’t what you want to happen.

      1. Thanks, Susan. I just used the blocks mentioned in the post, though other blocks ‘appeared’ as I was writing the draft, and I had no way of getting rid of them. But when I ‘Saved draft’, then ‘Preview’, they had fortunately disappeared. I didn’t enjoy it, to be honest. I have gone back to using the ‘cheat’ for Classic now, but will use those basic blocks when I have no alternative.

    24. So it did – in a way – work out. I agree that the new editor might not be as intuitive as the old one, maybe because it has so many more choices. But definitely so, to my mind, because they are not located in just two lines above the writing window. You definitely have to move around – a lot sometimes. But after a while you’ll get used to where you find your items.

      1. Thank you. It also proved to me that there was absolutely no good reason to change to those stupid blocks in the first place.
        I am now back to the Classic Editor, until they remove it completely.

      1. I’m glad you grew to like it, Molly. I doubt I will, but this was an experiment in advance of the time when they remove Classic completely. I will continue to use my Classic ‘cheat’ until that time.

    37. I’m with you on this. I’ve tried a couple of posts using the block but the only advantage I found was the ease of embedding videos – but that isn’t all that difficult in the Classic Editor anyway. I’ll be sticking with your tip to keep using the Classic version until ‘progress’ is imposed on us.

    38. Pete, there are certain function that still perplex me: I will click to add something and it jumps to the end of the story. There is a “block” format, but “post” to the left of it. What’s the difference? There is one I’m sure but not in the mood to go down that rabbit hole yet! At least all of your tools worked but honestly, why waste all of of that space on the right for a visual image of that oval photo – who uses that!?!?!?!

      1. I know, John. This took me twice as long as normal, as I had to check the draft after each stage. Then to ‘Edit’, I had to go into ‘Posts’, select the post, and then ‘Edit’. It is cumbersome, but at least I can create a basic post once they remove Classic completely.
        I am back to using my ‘cheat’ now, and composing with the Old Editor until they kill it off.
