Since I logged on this morning, WordPress has notified me of 1,000 spam comments already today.
They are all from the same company, offering to sell me a drug called Cialis.
This is what the drug is for.
Tadalafil, sold under the brand name Cialis among others, is a medication used to treat erectile dysfunction, benign prostatic hyperplasia, and pulmonary arterial hypertension. It is a tablet taken by mouth. Onset is typically within half an hour and the duration is up to 36 hours.
1,000 spam messages, all about the same thing!
They are obviously trying to tell me something…
You can delete all spam comments in one click with this plugin. Please check out my post – https://www.gagandutta.com/blog/how-to-delete-all-comments-in-wordpress-in-one-click/

Thanks for the link. I can already delete all comments immediately by clicking ‘Empty Spam’. The problem is that WP often puts genuine comments in Spam for no reason, and that usually means having to check them.
Best wishes, Pete.

In all our discussions, let’s nit forget that the enormous amount of spam is NOT a WordPress problem and that, as much of a nuisance as it is, an “overflowing” spam-folder only shows that WP’s spam filter is doing its job properly.

I did mention that it had all been caught by WP, Pit. There was no blame attached to them.

I must admit to not having checked my WordPress.com blog for a long time, so I might have millions of spam messages by now. I don’t seem to get quite so many on WordPress.org, but I’ve had those kinds of messages myself, so I’m sure they aren’t really personal. I’m sure they spam everybody at the same time. It used to be cars for me a while back. I wonder what is the point of sending so many messages to the same account. Perhaps they are testing if there is a number limit to the messages going into Spam and if they surpass it they will appear on the blog itself…
Keep smiling and erasing!

If you save that as a link, it should work every time. Until they ditch Classic. 🙂

It works independently of the editor you use. What I noticed, though, a while ago, was that WP had eliminated the search function for the comments in the admin section, a function that I really like and use. A short chat with their support solved the problem, and they sent me a link which I now have bookmarked. In case anybody here needs/wants it:
https://yourblog.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit-comments.php
Just replace the “yourblog” with the actual name of yours.
Btw, I have put in a link to the admin page in a widget at the bottom of my blog page from the beginning. That works again independent of what WP does.

Not so long ago I had a series of messages threatening to reveal photographs of me engaging in various sexual acts. I just had to pay something like $2000 to prevent it happening. I suppose they thought by setting a low expectation they were bound to hook someone who wasn’t sure. There is a special hell for people who try that sort of thing. As well as the information thieves.

I had something similar years ago on my email account. I quoted the Duke of Wellington back at them.
“Publish, and be damned!”
‘The coining of this expression is attributed to Arthur Wellesley, Duke of Wellington (1769-1852) who directed it at Harriette Wilson, one of his many mistresses, when she threatened to publish her diary and some of the Duke’s letters.’
