Film Review: The Eight Hundred (2020)

I have just had my film review published in the online magazine, Mythaxis.

‘The Eight Hundred’ is a Chinese war film, set during the Japanese invasion of China in 1937.

Here is a link, if you are interested in reading it.

(I watched the film in the original Chinese and Japanese languages, with subtitles. The trailer on the link is dubbed)

    1. That’s a very kind thing to say, Alex, and it’s nice to see you here! 🙂
If you get a chance to see this epic old-school war film, make sure to watch the subtitled version, and not the inferior dubbed edit.
      Best wishes, Pete.

    1. It was your review that made me buy the DVD! Daniel had already asked me to review it, but I could only find a poor version on You Tube. He lives in Taiwan, and his wife is related to the real Chinese Colonel shown in the film. There is a memorial to the 800 in Shanghai, in the actual building which is preserved as a museum. There is a link at the end of the review blog post.
      Best wishes, Pete.

        1. I never got to Shanghai, only Beijing and the surrounding area. My friend said I should have stayed longer, and flown down to Shanghai. (He loved it there) But I had to go back to work! 🙂
