Hello to everyone. I have just returned from my four day holiday in gloriously hot and sunny weather.
During that time away, I did not look at any emails or blog posts, did not turn on my mobile phone, or watch anything on TV.
After unloading the car, I have just logged on to find 96 posts, and around 30 comments on some of mine. I cannot possibly catch up on the posts I have missed, so will be starting from scratch from tomorrow. My apologies if that means I have missed something crucial or important. If so, you can let me know by email.
The latest fiction serial ‘A Good Runner’ will continue from tomorrow. Sorry to have interrupted it, and I hope that hasn’t ruined your enjoyment.
I will do my best to reply to all comments on my posts as soon as possible.
Best wishes from an unusually sunny and warm (hot) Beetley.
Pete.
Hope you had a relaxing getaway 🙂 I am just catching up on my blog reading now too 🙂 I love disconnecting from technology when on vacation… something so gratifying about slowing down and just enjoying the present moment with the person you’re with- whether you’re somewhere local you’ve been or abroad charting new territory! 🙂

It was a short trip, but very enjoyable. We have a 7-day holiday at the coast in September. That will be more relaxing.
Best wishes, Pete.

Nice to have you back home. And it’s good that Ollie weathered the weather well.
I was on the Baltic Sea in the former German Democratic Republic for a few days. We had fantastic weather. Good for cycling.
But now I’m very happy to be home again. It’s most beautiful here. 😉
Best wishes, Irene

I remember a trip to Rostock/Warnemunde when I was holidaying in the DDR. It was very good weather, and a nice beach to visit. Glad you had a good trip, Irene.

glad you are back-I am also glad that you had a break. I hope it was a peaceful and happy time. Do not feel like the need to respond to this as you have such catching up. I KNOW we are “good”. a fan Michele

Thanks, Michele. It was very nice to see friends and family after so long, even though we arrived in an unusual heatwave of up to 31C. My dog wasn’t too happy about that. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete. x

I wish I could say the same thing. Grandkids, family, and daily trips are wonderful and most important. I will be back to ‘normal service’ (love that term) soon.

It comes from when the old TV sets used to lose broadcast signal. The company would put up an information card.
‘We regret the loss of programmes.
Normal service will be resumed as soon as possible.’
That happened all the time in the late 50s and 1960s. 🙂

We had rabbit ears wrapped in tin foil to help keep the signal.

Essex, to visit family, then on to Kent to stay with an old friend from my schooldays. Caught a heatwave on day two, almost 31C!

We have had the so-called ‘Freedom Day’ now, despite a steady increase in infections and hospital admissions.

Surely a middle ground should have been struck. I wonder if UK policy will once again part painful lessons for us all. We must take heed. Best wishes Pete.

I have posted photos of where I went previously, Shaily, so I won’t repeat them. And there were no real stories, as I was at the houses of family and friends, so we didn’t do anything remotely interesting except catch up on news..
Best wishes, Pete.

Major newspapers across America have covered the story of your prolonged absence, and how it has affected thousands of people. One person became so distraught that he jumped off the edge of his Chesterfield sofa in a desperate suicide attempt… A reader in the Sonoran Desert tried to cry a river… Someone in the Midwest checked into rehab due to severe reading withdrawal complications… A state of emergency was considered in fourteen states, but somehow failed to get through the legislature…

Sounds like a good holiday. One advantage with doing all social media, email and stuff from a desk top computer is that it doesn’t follow me about. It remains chained in one room. So yes, on holiday you should just drop off the radar 🙂
