His eyebrows raised as he looked out of the side window.
So, next door’s eldest son had a new car? Not only the same as his, but the updated model.
It could only be around a year old, and that made it six months newer than his.
Look at him washing and polishing it so proudly.
The laptop open, he checked his online banking. Yes! Just enough.
Tomorrow, he would visit the dealership and trade his car in for the very latest version.
That would show him.
Might even get it in metallic black.
Nice! That will show him! 🙂

it will be interesting when the electric vehicles come. Every engine will purr like a kitten. You can really only impress with the exterior of the car. xx Michael

We already have some electric car owners here, Michael. One neighbour has a Nissan Leaf, another a Tesla. I have to be more careful when crossing the street, as they make no sound. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

Take care of Ollie too. They are horrible silent. I really miss the “big sound”.

I used to watch that show. Mel Smith, and Griff Rhys-Jones. Probably wouldn’t find it funny now I am old and grumpy. 🙂
Cheers, Pete.

I often YouTube old comedy, and you are right, most of it has lost its edge 🙂 And of course much of the humour back then would be considered unsuitable or offensive to someone or another.

I used to adore Monty Python. When I see it now, I wonder what I was laughing at.

If it’s not cars, it’s something else. New windows, a better lawn mower, more lights at Christmas. I’m glad I’m not like that. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

When the next door’s eldest son sees his neighbor’s newer metallic black model, his eyebrows will rise higher. And so the one-upmanship continues: the newer the car, the higher the eyebrows.

It is interesting that while he is thinking about what he will do, he is not thinking about the implications of what he is thinking. You captured this superbly. Kudos! Warmest regards, Theo
