When I was unwell yesterday, Julie took Ollie for his walk over on Beetley Meadows. Using her phone, she was able to get some photos of him. When I try to photograph him with a camera, he always shies away. So here are three new photos of Ollie, from 2021. I know many of you like to see him.

I think it is because Julie was using a phone. Unlike my cameras, it isn’t held up to the face to take photos, so doesn’t make him uncomfortable.

He chased a small deer on Monday, but he lost it when it ran across the river and jumped up into Hoe Rough. 🙂

I think it has to do with holding the phone away from the face to look at the screen. I use a ‘real’ camera, and look through the viewfinder. That means Ollie can’t see my face, which obviously unsettles him.

I think it’s because he can see the person’s face when they hold a phone at arm’s length. Me holding a camera across my face to use the viewfinder seems to spook him.

How old is Ollie, Pete? I think he is precious and adorable.

He is 9 years and 7 months old. For his breed, that is ‘old age’. His sister died last year, but the Vet says Ollie might live unti he is twelve. He says I have to imagine that 9 1/2 is around 76 years in human terms for Ollie.
