On our recent holiday, we noticed that almost every cafe was selling a new formulation of ice cream for dogs. Ollie has enjoyed ‘human’ ice cream on a few occasions, as well as the residue of a few yoghurt pots. But we are aware that he is older, and less active now.
With that in mind, he was treated to a doggy ice cream on holiday, but just the one. It includes some crumbles of dog-biscuit, and Ollie devoured it, giving it his seal of approval on a warm afternoon.
(These are full-frame 35mm equivalent photos, reduced by 50%. But you can click on them twice to enlarge for detail.)
More to come of Ollie on his holidays!
I love this as much as Ollie appears to love that ice cream!

I love this! I didn’t know there was ice cream for dogs. Hooray for Ollie.

It seems to be a new thing here, Jennie. All the ice cream shops were selling it. We only got him one though, just as a treat for his holiday. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

What a great idea for dogs. Yes, one was probably enough.

It was a big portion, so we only let him have one. Now he is less active, he is putting on weight. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

Glad to hear you didn’t was your money! But then, With fewer children being born? What else are the poor Ice cream makers to do?

There were lots of people buying human ice cream too, Chris. 🙂

Regular old bipedal mammals buying ice cream? Seems a bit off-topic?

Yes, he has mellowed about the camera, but only when he is away from Beetley, it seems.

Dog icecream? Never heard of it, but my late dog would have loved it. He always looked forwards to human icecreams but we misers only gave him a bite on the excuse of how it is bad for him…as if it is good for us.

The dog ice cream is quite a new thing here, Shaily. Supposedly specially formulated for dogs, and containing pieces of dog biscuit. Ollie certainly loved it! It costs £2 a portion though, so not cheap. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

He gets less treats now he is not running around much, but one holiday ice cream seemed appropriate. 🙂

Ollie looks stockier than I remember. It must be rough to be adorable all the time.

He is 2 kilos heavier than last year, Pete. Less mobile now with arthritis in his front legs, and his shorter walks have made him put on weight. He gets less treats, hence only one ice cream. In human years, he is around 76 years old for his breed, so bound to put on some weight when being less active. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

Nice! Good work, Pete! For next summer you have to look for a dog ice cream seller in Beetley. In the past you have told about so many dog walkers, there could be a good change. Best wishes, Michael

Yes, perhaps the man who sells ice cream from a van will start selling dog ice cream? 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

I think he will do. It can become a good business, and Ollie has its own Beetley flavoured ice cream. He not longer has to cool-down in the river. 😉 xx Michael

I’m glad Ollie enjoyed it. A few restaurants around here have ice cream treats for dogs. If Cinnamon was still here I would get some for her. She used to enjoy the Frosty Paws ice cream treats I would buy for her at the store.
