In our house in Beetley, Ollie cannot see outside. If I open the back door to let him out, he only has the familiar surroundings of our garden to look at. So being able to sit outside for a large part of the day, and most of the evening until bedtime, that’s a real treat for our beloved dog.
Because I spent so much of our holiday sittng happily on that covered porch of our cabin, Ollie was happy to be out there with me. When I got up each morning, I would carry his bed and toys out onto the porch, and leave them there until we closed up to go to bed for the night.
(All photos are full-frame, and can be enlarged by clicking on them.)
At various times, Ollie would take himself off down the ramp and explore the hotel beer garden. I was lucky enough to have the camera handy when he was ‘patrolling the porch’.
We love the fact that we can take Ollie on holiday with us, and that it is just as much a holiday for him as for us.
What a handsome dude. Is he a Sharpei?
LikeLiked by 1 person
He is a Sharpei, but not 100% pedigree-bred. His colour is non-standard, so there must have been another breed back in his lineage. Possibly a Chocolate Labrador.
Best wishes, Pete.

He is gorgeous no matter if he is a pure bred or not. I had two chow chows. They are cousins to the Sharpei.

Love it – like all your followers I am overjoyed to see Ollie enjoying himself on holiday with you and Julie. I imagine that any holiday spent away from a beloved family member aka “pet” is fraught with anxiety and regrets, even if they are unspoken.

Lovely pictures of Ollie. He looks relaxed.
Reminded me of the time I had traveled for three days and two nights in a mini-van from Texas to California (where they were moving) with my friends and their gorgeous, Scottish Airedale, Missy (named after Miss Marple).
My friends either traveled on local destinations with their dogs or had a doggie sitter come home to take care of the doggies during their absence.
I loved watching life through a well-behaved Missy’s curious eyes, her enjoyment of the ride, and overnight stays in dog-friendly hotels. Just lovely!

Thanks, Chaya. Ollie loves travelling in the car, and has his own bed in the rear compartment. He was relaxed as long as I was around sitting next to him on the porch. š

It started as a joke when I was in the LAS. Then it snowballed into a massive collection of memorabilia. I shipped out most of it to our grandson, but he is into Pokemon now. š

Apropos of nothing: interesting to see an old-fashioned dustbin! I thought most of them had been consigned to use as garden waste incinerators š Cheers, Jon.

Each cabin has one. That saves us a walk to the larger rubbish skips in the hotel car park. Leave them near the path, and they are emptied by the staff. It also means you don’t have to have a messy bin inside the cabin, though two are supplied inside. One in the kitchen area, the other in the bathroom. š
Best wishes, Pete.
