Only a few days to go before the three-day Christmas break, and some bloggers are already disappearing from their blogs to make trips to family or preparations to receive them.

This is always a quiet time of year in the blogging community, something to be expected.

With this in mind, I would like to take this opportunity to wish a happy and peaceful Christmas to anyone who will not be around for the next week or so.

And at this time of year, let us not forget those who will not be in the mood to celebrate the festivities. Those who have lost loved ones in 2021, or are living alone without family or close friends. Widows and widowers, orphans, those suffering from depression or debilitating medical disabilities, and the many who are ill from the symptoms of Covid-19.

As we eat too much, drink a little too much, and exchange gifts, we have to remember those who have nothing to look forward to, and keep them in our thoughts.

Yes it was – the “Anonymous” comments were composed by me on my mobile phone, but for some odd reason, the comments did not display on the page, so I may have composed it twice 🙂 The one with my name was composed from my laptop 🙂 I think my mobile phone needs Chrome or something 🙂 Anyway, keep up the great work as always 🙂

  20. Thank you and Merry Christmas to you, Julie, Ollie and Julie’s kids and grandkids. We are having Indian food delivered on Christmas Day since everyone here likes it. It is always a toss up between Chinese and Indian, both open on Christmas. I think cooking for Thanksgiving is enough for one year!

    Yes, there has been joy, celebration, sadness, deaths, trials and victories.

    A life fully experienced apparently necessitates all of the above.

  30. Well put. This will be our first year without Mom. But I know she would want us to all have a good time. She will be with us in spirit. Wishing you , your good wife and Ollie a wonderful Christmas.

    (Lia just found her Christmas gift and brought it out for me to see. Sigh. I guess I need to find a better hiding place.)

  31. Thanks, Pete. It will only be hubby and me this Christmas. I don’t think Santa will bring us a dog and the family are coming in January if the rules allow. We always have our roast on Christmas Eve and ir will be odd as this year it is a Friday which is usually our night for fish and chips! Our sons tease us for being so rigid but with hubby a bobby and me a teacher we grew old with timetables and routines! We look forward to cold turkey and Christmas pudding on Christmas day. I have one more month before I give up trying to get a dog from a rescue centre. I don’t think they will let us have anything once we reach 80.

    1. Such a shame that they won’t let you have a dog. I don’t know if you are on Facebook, but my wife is. She is often telling me about people looking for good homes for pets due to bereavements or marriage break ups.
      Enjoy that cold turkey, I actually prefer it cold. 🙂

      1. Thanks, Pete. I won’t use facebook but hubby does. However I think we are feeling rather as if the centres might be right. I hate the idea of spending the rest of our lives without one, after all, if one of us does depart this life there’s always the other one!

  36. Very true Pete. Not everyone celebrates Christmas and as you say these last two years have been very stressful for many. Personally now my kids are grown I prefer to celebrate the winter solstice and embrace a new year. Hope it is nice and quiet for you and that you get through the family gathering on Sunday without mishap! ✨🎁🎄🥂
