An Unexpected Gift

Despite saying we no longer exchange Valentine’s Day gifts, Julie surprised me with one this morning.

Although not a fan of all the Star Wars films, I did have a great fondness for the character of Yoda. In fact, when I was still working, my facial features and regular spouting of ‘wisdom’ earned me the nickname ‘Yoda’, from some colleagues.

So to keep my phone tidy on the office room desk, this is what I opened this morning.

    1. It is also useful, which is a nice change. Julie ordered a special dinner too, delivered all the way from Cornwall, 400 miles away. Cornish Pasties, Scones, Clotted Cream, and Jam. It came in a coolbox, and we had it all for dinner last night.
      Best wishes, Pete. x

  1. What wonderful surprises.
Did your wife know that Arment’s also ships their delights from Westmoreland Rd? I mean, to Beetley of course. Not to the Colonies sadly 😢

I’d be over the moon for that opportunity. Nothing, and I mean absolutely nothing in my experience even comes close to London Pie n Mash out here. You and the rest of Blighty are really and truly blessed in this regard Pete. 😉

    1. We did know about ‘real’ pie and mash, Chris. They also sell it in some local pubs in Norfolk. But my wife is from Hertfordshire, and not keen on the idea of pies with ‘mystery’ ingredients. Maybe one day…
      Best wishes, Pete.

    1. And she went one better. A second delivery arrived from Cornwall, 400 miles away. In a cool-box were meat pies called Pasties, and scones with cream and jam. Both local specialities down there.
      Best wishes, Pete.

    1. A second surprise arrived later. Julie ordered a delivery from Cornwall, 400 miles away. Their Cornish specialities, in a cool-box. Meat and potato pasties, and fresh scones with clotted cream and jam. We are having a ‘Cornish dinner’ this evening, John.
      Best wishes, Pete.

    1. They are getting bigger, jude. Ears never stop growing until we die.
“concluded that men’s ears were significantly larger than women’s, that ears did tend to get bigger as people got older, and that the growth occurred in both men and women. Whatever Parris thinks, this is not just an old man issue. It may be that women wear their hair longer, so we are less aware of their ears.”
      Best wishes, Pete. x
