August has arrived, and the weather is set to warm up again in the coming week. Thankfully not as hot as the recent ‘super-heatwave’, but hot enough.

Anyone who read my post yesterday will know that the DVLA is insisting I repeat the eye test I took in June, even though they know I passed it. I managed to get an appointment for Tuesday, so at least I do not have the extra stress of a long wait. But to be honest, it has worn me down, and I have become very pessimistic about the outcome.
—————————————————————————————-
Ollie has almost completed his long course of antibiotics and steroid cream. His fur is looking better, and his appetite is good. But whatever else is affecting him means he is still walking extremely slowly, and cannot manage a walk in excess of one hour. It is probably old age, so I can sympathise with my poor old dog.
—————————————————————————————-
My fiction serial concludes today, and I will take a break from serials before starting another one. We have a short holiday to look forward to in early September, and I will be offline when we are there. I don’t want to begin a new serial that might not conclude by the time we go.
—————————————————————————————-
That’s all for this week. Wherever you are, and whatever you are doing, I wish you a peaceful Sunday.
—————————————————————————————-
I hope the next eye test will be accepted, Pete! At least good news about Ollie! Best wishes, Michael

If I were Ollie, I wouldn’t want to walk more than an hour. You have a lovely getaway to look forward to in September.

Thanks, Jennie. Yes, one hour is now more than enough for my beloved old dog. We go on holiday once the schools go back. That way, everywhere is quieter during weekdays.
Best wishes, Pete.

You’re welcome, Pete. I know how much you enjoy that special place close to the sea. September will be lovely and much quieter. Please give Ollie a pat for me.

Ollie is getting older. I hope you spend more years together.

Me too, Arlene. But he is getting very slow, and sleeps almost all of the time now.

(1) August is usually a time to stay home and run the A/C. However, yesterday (August 6th), I skipped town in order to visit Zion National Park. We didn’t see any wasps, but we saw a few flying insects…plus a wiggly snake, a few scampering lizards, some playful chipmunks, countless friendly squirrels, a beautiful turkey vulture (!), and a majestic deer posing for a photo. Oh, we also saw a lot of people, too!
(2) I don’t see why a second eye exam became necessary.
(3) I don’t know if it’s age, but after driving 361 miles (581 km) and walking / hiking / climbing 5 miles (8 km) yesterday, I’m feeling rather bushed today.
(4) Due to yesterday’s Zion National Park trip (left home at 8:00 am; arrived back home at midnight), I missed the serial yesterday, and haven’t gotten around yet to today’s post.
(5) Relaxing!

You outdid yourself with this last series and deserve a break. If you could get the address of the DVLA we could all send in postcards complaining about their service. I mean you have over 8,000 followers, it couldn’t hurt! Or I could send up a few prayers? You never know. Hoping for the best result Pete, xxoo, C

Thanks, Cheryl. I think if 8,000 people complained, they would be so annoyed they would never give me my licence. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete. x

Fully understand how you feel about your license renewal, but there is still hope until they say “no”. To be honest I feel pretty steam rollered myself at the moment what with the computer issues. Standing around in the shop trying to make decisions and waiting for a salesperson to be available wore me out physically. It’s a bad combo. When I get this way everything is too much. But it will pass. I shall hold out hope for you Pete. As they say, don’t let the bastards get you.

Thanks, Carolyn. I bought my PC online direct from HP, free delivery next day, and a collection service if there were any faults or issues. I always found computer shops tried to push extras on me that I didn’t need.
Best wishes, Pete.

Dear Pete, Your driver’s license renewal story is just plain annoying.
I wish you a good pass on the eye test and that the DVLA has no reason to refuse the extension.
Have a nice Sunday.
Best wishes, Irene

I find the DVLA’s attitude incomprehensible, Pete: apart from seeming almost vindictive, I don’t think the same approach is being taken with everybody, but I don’t have statistics to back that up. I hope the next test achieves the desired result, anyway. Enjoy the rest of the day, cheers, Jon.

Thanks, Jon. Even the optician said she doesn’t understand why they want to repeat the test. Unfortunately, 9 weeks after passing it previously, there is no guarantee that will happen again.
Best wishes, Pete.
