When most people hear the name Fleetwood Mac, they tend to think of the vocals of Stevie Nicks, and the guitar of Lindsay Buckingham. And the songs from the album ‘Rumours’, one of the best-selling records of all-time.
But I think of Peter Green, and Fleetwood Mac as primarily a Blues band, formed in 1967. In 1969, they released a song that I thought was outstanding, even though it wasn’t in a genre that I would have usually listened to at the time. Peter Green left the band in 1970, suffering from serious mental illness. He did return to the music scene at various times in later life, and died in 2020, aged 73.
Such a talent this is one of my favourite songs,,,,Thank you for playing this beautiful track xx

Such a shame what happened to Peter Green. He was a force of nature.

If not for Peter Green a LOT of big name guitarists would be working at the post office. Most notably would be Santana. The entire “shoe gaze” guitar subculture owes its existence to Green’s work. I could go on for days extolling the talent and contributions of Peter Green but I think people should experience his catalog of work and find out how Peter Green and Jeff Beck kick started modern guitar vocabulary.

I’m a big Fleetwood Mac fan, both their earlier and later recordings. I don’t remember this song. It’s sad to hear gifted singer/musician Peter Green had to leave the group early on, and then died at a young-ish age. Thanks, Pete.

These early songs were not released in America until much later, once the new line-up of the band were topping the charts.
Best wishes, Pete.

I see. Probably a later release over here after the new line-up meant the song wasn’t played much. Best to you, Pete.

I was watching a concert from the good old day from them just the other day. Warmest regards, Ed

Good sound. Another that I didn’t know. A friend introduced me to Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac and I like them a lot. There never seems to be enough time to listen to all the sounds I enjoy!

This is the band before Stevie Nicks and Buckingham joined. At the time, it was all about Peter Green.
Best wishes, Pete.

My only knowledge of Fleetwood Mac stems from a CD I bought years ago after listening to my sister’s vinyl album: Fleetwood Mac Greatest Hits. I really enjoy the music, and have listened to the CD often. I didn’t know the song you posted.

This song is one of their earliest hits, before Christine Perfect and Stevie Nicks were involved in the band..

This was lovely! Thanks for sharing Pete. Not a big Fleetwood Mac fan, but this is much easier on the ears!

I hadn’t heard this song before. I like it very much. (I tried to avoid ’70s Fleetwood Mac, but of course, they were inescapable.)

Peter Green was the genius behind the band in the early years. Once he left, the new line-up became a very commercial pop group.
Best wishes, Pete.

They came from Blues roots, and that is often overlooked now, Beth.

Although there is a common name, they are effectively 2 different bands; the later, ‘pop’ songs are very catchy [and successful], but I always love the blues, so I prefer the earlier iteration with Greeny. Cheers, Jon.
