New Year has never been anything special to me either. It just begins a whole new tax year and all that involves. However, I do wish you all the best for 2023.

HNY Pete! Here’s to a much better 2023 for you and the world. I’ve never really enjoyed New Year’s Eve, too many people having too much to drink and countries trying to outdo each other in how much money can be wasted on fireworks. I always feel that the new year begins in September when schools start the first term of the year, new beginnings and all that.

I got married for the first time on NYE 1977. I did that deliberately, as I never really enjoyed that celebration. For years after, it was my wedding anniversary of course, rather than NYE. Then I joined the Ambulance Service and worked almost every NYE night shift until I left in 2001.
For me, the new year starts on my Birthday, March the 16th. 🙂
