I have seen thousands of photos taken during the civil war, but these carefully colourised photos really make the subjects come to life. The video is short, at only 6 minutes.
Very cool. But we also have the tech that would allow a full 360 degree view AI extrapolation, as if you were walking behind them… and then hologram movement. Love this stuff, Pete.
Fascinating photos. I had ancestors who fought and died in the Civil War. I know that at least one died in the Battle of Wilson’s Creek (near Springfield, Missouri, where I was born).
Nice to have that connection, David. I don’t know of any of my relatives who might have fought in our civil war. So many of the records have been lost since 1651.
Best wishes, Pete.
This is one of your most amazing offerings Pete. The beautiful colorization job makes these images so much more poignant. I was so taken by the sadness in their eyes.
Thanks, Dorothy. I sometimes deliberately avoid posting colourised photos, but in this case they made those people seem so real, and took us back to the 1860s.
Best wishes, Pete.
I have seen the original B&W photos many times. Most of these have been ‘sharpened’ for focus and blur issues, and then colourised. Other than that, they are much as I remember them.
Best wishes, Pete.
Wow! The colorization is excellent.

Thanks, Doug. Technology has some great uses, along with the bad ones we all know about.

Very well done. You know, of course, that it is the animals I notice most. Animals have always been part of our lives, no matter where or when.

And tragically used extensively in every war too. From pack mules, to war elephants.

When I glanced at the first shot, my mind thought it was a modern movie still!

I can only agree, Liz. Some of the best I have seen on photos taken 162 years ago.

This colourisation is very good, Pete; obviously, it helps when the photos are well focused, also. Cheers, Jon.
