A Motown hit that was not written by Holland, Dozier, Holland, but by Smokey Robinson. In 1966, this classic from The Temptations was one of my favourite records of the year.
I never met a girl who makes me feel the way that you do
It’s alright
Whenever I’m asked who makes my dreams real, I say that you do
You’re outta sight
So, fee-fi-fo-fum
Look out, baby, ’cause here I come
And I’m bringing you a love that’s true
So get ready, so get ready
I’m gonna try to make you love me too
So get ready, so get ready ’cause here I come
(Get ready ’cause here I come) I’m on my way
(Get ready ’cause here I come)
If you wanna play hide and seek with love, let me remind you
It’s alright
But the lovin’ you’re gonna miss in the time it takes to find you
It’s outta sight
So, fiddley-dee, fiddley-dum
Look out, baby, ’cause here I come
And I’m bringing you a love that’s true
So get ready, so get ready
I’m gonna try to make you love me too
So get ready, so get ready ’cause here I come
(Get ready ’cause here I come) I’m on my way
(Get ready ’cause here I come)
If all my friends should want you too, I’ll understand it
Be alright
I hope I get to you before they do, the way I planned it
Be outta sight
So, fiddley-dee, fiddley-dum
Look out, baby, ’cause here I come
And I’m bringing you a love that’s true
So get ready, so get ready
I’m gonna try to make you love me too
So get ready, so get ready ’cause here I come
(Get ready ’cause here I come) I’m on my way

As you probably know, Motown is first and foremost in my love of music, it is my ‘go-to’ when I need a pick-me-up! This is a great one … thanks for playing it!!!

Another that is on my play lists. (My play lists are on thumb drives I use when I drive any long distances, even up into the Cascades.) Warmest regards, Ed

Rare Earth created an entire album side of this tune! It rocks regardless of who recorded it.

Yes, I remember this one. My friends loved Motown, but I was more into rock and heavy metal. My son’s band took it to extremes though – the singer sounded like a creature from the deep.

I was born without any ‘ Heavy Metal’ genes, Stevie. 🙂

So was I originally, but then when I used to hear Marc and his band practise in the garage, I got into long guitar solos a la Metallica, Slayer and Armored Saint. Unfortunately their musical tastes progressed to death metal and I drew the line at Five Finger Death Punch and their own creature-from-the-deep compositions.
