Despite the huge building site on the southern side of the beach, little has changed if you head north.

Traditional Beach Huts are still very popular. People own them, and use them for days on the beach.
An old shelter, somewhere to sit and enjoy the beach during bad weather.
As the afternoon turned quite chilly, I sat inside the shelter and took a photo of the view.
The sand dunes, looking north.
A cargo ship in the distance.

I remember there were some beach huts when I lived in Eastbourne many years back, and I remember the old pictures of bathing machines. I found them fascinating. Thanks for sharing your holiday pics with us!

Beach huts are so popular in Britain, I think they will endure for another 100 years.

I doubt they will ever disappear, Jennie. English people love beach huts!

I miss the sea. I always loved just watching and listening to the waves on the beach.

I need to see the sea a few times a year. I suppose that comes from being born on an island.
Best wishes, Pete.

The Beach Hut is still around. Beech-Nut® gum isn’t. (Chew on that fact or for a while!)

I remember those, they had a hard shell that crunched as you started chewing.

The North Sea isn’t as inspiring as an ocean, but it still works for me. x

My wife and I love to sit and stare out at the sea…she really loves oceans, and here in LA the sunsets are truly spectacular

Unfortunately, the North Sea is brown and cold, but the beaches there have soft sand, and they stretch for miles.
Best wishes, Pete.

There’s nothing better than sitting on a bench looking out to sea. I’ve perfected the art on the IOW.

I can do that for a long time, but Julie gets bored. So I usually go out on my own a couple of afternoons.
Best wishes, Pete.

Sam and I can sit there for a long time and not say a word. There’s something soothing about listening to the sound of the waves and watching boats and ferries on the Solent. We have a chair we like to sit on at our beach at St. Helen’s and also at Puckpool. We watch the world go by in silence.

Thank you, Don. It has hardly changed there since the 1950s, and does have ‘old-world charm’.
