Back, But Not Quite Back

Well, I am back from my holiday week by the sea, and delighted to report that I am smiling! The weather was perfect; nice temperatures combined with blue skies and a sea breeze. The one shower we encountered was when we were driving back from somewhere, and it only lasted for ten minutes.

All in all, the perfect English seaside holiday.

Ollie enjoyed his change of scene, and made new friends too. He even got to sample a special canine ice cream, and there will be a photo of him enjoying that in due course. As we have been to that same place on four previous occasions, there will not be many new photos other than some of our accommodation, and Ollie relaxing.

But returning home to a house left closed up for seven days means there are jobs to be done, so I will not be back to blogging until next week. Meanwhile, I have had to delete hundreds of emails and post notifications, so apologies for not being around your blogs. However, I will do my best to reply to all comments left during my absence, and will get on that starting from Monday.

My thanks to everyone who continued to read this blog while I was away, ensuring that I had steady numbers of views even when I wasn’t around.

Best wishes to you all, Pete.

Off The Grid

You may recall that I am going on holiday on Saturday.

(Weather Forecast; ‘Showers/Rain/Windy’. 😦 )

**Update**
Getting warmer from Monday! 🙂

I have a few things to do before that, like taking Ollie to the Vet today, and to the groomer on Friday. Then I won’t be back until the 11th of September. That means no posts from me for a while after this one, and I doubt I will be catching up with or commenting on the posts of those of you I follow.

Fresh start from the 12th. With the return of the short stories, and hopefully some news about how the holiday went.

Best wishes to everyone, Pete.

Just Back

Hello to everyone. I have just returned from my four day holiday in gloriously hot and sunny weather.

During that time away, I did not look at any emails or blog posts, did not turn on my mobile phone, or watch anything on TV.

After unloading the car, I have just logged on to find 96 posts, and around 30 comments on some of mine. I cannot possibly catch up on the posts I have missed, so will be starting from scratch from tomorrow. My apologies if that means I have missed something crucial or important. If so, you can let me know by email.

The latest fiction serial ‘A Good Runner’ will continue from tomorrow. Sorry to have interrupted it, and I hope that hasn’t ruined your enjoyment.

I will do my best to reply to all comments on my posts as soon as possible.

Best wishes from an unusually sunny and warm (hot) Beetley.

Pete.

Concern For A ‘Missing’ Blogger

Has anybody heard anything from Michel, who blogs at https://raistlin0903.wordpress.com/ ?

He hasn’t posted anything for ages, not since November 2020, and didn’t reply to an email I sent him a while ago.

I remember him saying he had been unwell, so I am really worried about him.

Perhaps you can let me know, if you have been in contact with him.

Thanks, Pete.

Missing Twitter?

I haven’t had access to my Twitter account for some time now. They wanted to send a verification code to my mobile, and that wasn’t working.

I have been informed that the phone is now repaired, and ready for collection. Unfortunately, I cannot collect it until I have had a result of my Covid-19 test, so I remain phone-less. (That is not good grammar, I know.)

Other than the occasional personal message, I only ever used Twitter to publicise my posts, and those of other bloggers I follow. I gave some time over every day to quickly scroll through the fast-moving timeline, and retweet as many posts as I could, before being overwhelmed by the duplicates, and the constant flow of new tweets. I know some people appreciated that, so I kept on doing it.

But since my absence, I doubt I have been missed. The ‘Twitterlanche’ of constant tweets has gone on without my presence, and not even noticed I wasn’t there.

Thinking about it, do I really need to bother, once I have my phone back?

The jury in my head is out.

Back, but not quite

I returned from the short holiday yesterday, and I am happy to report that it was a success. It didn’t rain, and it was bright and sunny every day until Friday, when it turned cool in a strong sea breeze. In fact, the small ‘cabin’ was so nice, I have booked it again for the same week next year. Let’s hope I am still around to enjoy it!

Unfortunately, I am not able to keep up with any blog posts that arrived while I was away, and have had to delete all the notifications in a very packed email folder. I wil do my best to start from scratch next Monday. Next week I will also compile all the parts of the last serial, ‘Vera’s Life’, into one complete story.

The dining area floor is being laid from tomorrow, so I have a couple of days of disruption to deal with first.

Ollie.

Ollie adjusted well to the change. He particularly enjoyed the good-sized porch, which enabled him to watch the world go by in the hotel garden. Almost everyone had a dog, and that gave him some canine friends to check out too. Once his bed was placed outside on that porch, he would happily lay on it all day, just watching the comings and goings. Anyone interested in seeing what they are like can use this photo gallery link.

However, his lack of energy and vitality is becoming increasingly apparent every day now. A three-mile walk on a warm day along the seafront to the next town of Mablethorpe almost wiped him out, and we had to bring him back on a bus. His first bus journey!

These photos taken on a phone show him looking his age, and upset me greatly.

From now on, his regular walks are going to have to be a lot shorter, and he will be in need of more attention and affection.

As for me, the break made me realise just how much time I spend blogging, to the detriment of everything else I should be doing. I am rethinking my future about blogging, and may be posting considerably less in the weeks to come.

Best wishes to all, Pete.

Off The Blog

From Sunday (tomorrow) afternoon, I am going to be off the blog until next weekend. I will not be replying to any comments, or reading anyone’s posts for a week.

I will try to catch up a bit when I get back, but previous experience has shown me that a few days away is hard to get on top of.

On top of that, I may well have been stuck onto the Block Editor by then. If so, anticpate further delays.

Anyway, just so you know I am not dead.

Have a great week, everyone. 🙂

Long Day, Late Start On Blogging.

I had a lot to do today, something very rare in the world of beetleypete. Ollie had to be left for almost six hours, which hasn’t happened in over four years.

He was exceptionally pleased to see me when I got back, and received extra treats for being so well-behaved on his own.

Anyway, the point of this short post is to apologise for any late replies to comments or messages, and to let you know that any posts I have missed will be caught up with tomorrow.

I am still around for a while this evening, but by my standards, I will be having an early night.
