I am feeling so sorry for you, but for the UK rain is something like iconic. 😉 Over the last eight days we most time had sun, and temperatures around 22 degrees. But we are usually not blessed by God, either. As I recall, over the past few years it has always been seven months of winter, three months of autumn, one month of spring, and a maximum of four weeks in summer, with a maximum of 22 degrees. xx Michael

Oh, you are not confortable with barbecue? I admit I don’t like it that much either. It is also said to be cancerous, under certain conditions. I haven’t eaten that much meat for a few years, and grilling vegetables would still be a mortal sin for me. Best wishes, Michael

Oh I enjoy barbecues, and eat a lot of meat. It’s just that the weather is often wet, and cooking up a barbecue for just two people doesn’t seem necessary. 🙂

Oh! Get real BeetleyPete – we all know that Norfolk is one of the driest parts of England. Amirite? As someone close to a Holt gardener for many years, I heard the complaints.

There are floods sometimes, but mainly on the nature reserve and over the riverbank, away from the houses. We get ground water flooding in our outbuildings, when the water seeps through the concrete floors. Sometimes, it is 3-4 inches deep.

Yea we’ve had a lot of rain lately too, I don’t mind it once in a while bc that means I don’t have to go out to the garden to water my lawn but 4 days in a row while I’m off work is no bueno in my books!

I haven’t watered the lawn for ten years, BB. (Since we lived in Norfolk) Even in the summer here, we can count on enough rain to keep the grass green. 🙂

I would believe it. I have been to most of the Lake District, also to Carlisle.
I once went to a wedding in Sellafield, where it rained so hard we had to take all the wedding photos in the church, then stay inside for almost an hour until it stopped raining so hard so that we could get across to our parked cars without ruining our wedding clothes. The backdrop was the nuclear power station, where the bride’s father worked. A far from joyful weekend trip from London.

With an annual rainfall of around 600 mm, Essex, Cambridgeshire, parts of North Yorkshire, the East Riding of Yorkshire, Suffolk and NORFOLK, belong to the driest areas of the UK.

Yes, Norfolk still claims to be ‘The Driest County’, Ro. They usually announce that fact during one of the frequent 72-hour downpours.

When I used to watcg Frasier, which was set in Seattle, it did seem to always be raining. Or at least the rain would be referenced when they came home.
