Sam Brown is the daughter of the popular 1960s entertainer, Joe Brown. If you live outside of Britain, you will probably never have heard of either of them.
Now 59 years old, Sam came to attention in the late 1980s with a series of hit records and accompanying videos. I liked her immediately, and was very interested in her vocal range and excellent singing voice. In 1988, she released her first album, ‘Stop’, and this single was released from it. I bought the album as I really liked the title track.
She already had extensive experience as a backing singer with some of the top names in the business. Over the years that followed, there were some medical issues that affected her voice, and she dropped off the scene. In 2015, she became a vocal coach for backing singers at The Academy of Contemporary Music, located just outside London in Surrey.
The lyrics are on the video.
Thanks for the double introduction, father and daughter. Warmest regards, Ed

Joe was very much of his time, though he is still doing the rounds with that old stuff in his 80s.
Best wishes, Pete.

What a great voice. How sad that it was affected by illness.

She was one of my favourites at the time, and then it all just vanished.

You’re right. I haven’t heard of Joe Brown or his daughter.

I don’t think either of their records were released in America, Liz. Sam was a great singer though, and the medical problems cut her career short.
Best wishes, Pete.

She really was. Shame about the medical issues with her voice later.

I don’t think her records were released in America. That was a shame, as she might have been another Adele.
Best wishes, Pete.

I can see the resemblance. I really couldn’t stand Joe Brown’s cockney shtick but she sounds better

I was never a fan of her dad as an entertainer, but he was harmless enough. She was a terrific singer at her peak.
Best wishes, Pete.

I wasn’t aware that Joe Brown had a daughter….let alone an entertainer. Thank you 🙂

Her mainstream career was short-lived, but she did make an impact at the time. (Joe Brown is 83 now, and still performs.)
Best wishes, Pete. x
