It has been a while since my last Beetley weather report. Well at least it seems so, to me. 🙂
After the hot summer, and an unusually mild early autumn, we are getting payback, as I might have guessed. Almost gale force winds, and torrential rain that lasted for over twenty hours. The leaves are still falling, and are now sodden clumps all over the place. Driven into piles by swirling winds, then rained on, they will have to be left where they are, as I cannot even contemplate trying to clear them up in this weather.
And the mud is back, let’s never forget the mud. In the space of a few days, pleasant dog walks have returned to battling high winds, and slipping around in the rapidly forming mud pools.
Checking the weather forecast, the earnest young man predicted ‘showers’ for Norfolk. You have to laugh at those forecasters, they should really be on stage at a comedy club, getting riotous applause.
So winter is here on time, and set to stay for its usual few months.
It could be worse of course.
At least it isn’t snowing.
Great post 🙂 Interesting, on the Sunday before this last one, my state got a lot of snow and it began to melt rapidly this past weekend. Anyway, keep up the great work as always 🙂 I will get the time one of these days to read your Marjorie because it sounds interesting. In the meantime, I will catch up on the rest of your blog posts that I missed while writing my epic review 🙂 Anyway, keep up the great work as always 🙂

Thanks, John. It has been raining almost every day since I posted this. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

We’ve had some pretty torrential rain here too. It really makes me worry about the homeless people.

I have been selfish, I’m afraid, and been worrying about having to trudge around in thick mud.
Best wishes, Pete.

The sun did break through at the weekend. I enjoyed the brief respite from the rain. 🙂
Cheers, Pete.

I remember the days, not too long ago, when we were complaining very loudly about the seemingly endless 90-degree days.

It’s always extremes, John. Too hot, or too wet. Not much in the middle these days. 🙂

Yes, at least it isn’t snowing. Your weather forecasters must be from New England! 🙂

We’ve actually had a cool front and got down to the 60’s, love it! But, no rain till next week and we’ll be back up in the 80’s by Saturday!! We have very short autumn and Winter snaps here.

We are just starting at least three long months of it, GP. 😦

As I’ve already mentioned to you Pete, we’ve already had three rounds of snow here in ME with several days having temps not rising above the 20s. Bot supposedly we’re going to have a “mild winter.”🤔

I’m sorry for your cold and snow, Kim. But I confess I am pleased that we don’t have any. (Yet) 🙂

You have 4 very distinct “seasons” Pete…here in Los Angeles, we have two: dry and hot, with rain very rarely…well, it’s raining hard here today and it’s refreshing….will it be so in two more days? We’ll see!

It stopped raining not long after I published this post, John. I should do that more often. 🙂

I say bring on the snow!! After the Christmas season though…That’s one of our company’s busiest times and, brother, the slightest bit of snow shuts things down around here. People act like it’s the Apocalypse. Sorry about the wind though, Pete. Cold wind is brutal.

Snow is my worst nightmare. This country is just never prepared for it. Driving becomes a dangerous chore, and getting anywhere is always so difficult.

-5c here at the moment, now the sun has gone down, -9c over night so they say. I better light the fire 🙂 Still its good road building weather and with luck I’ll be finished the latest stretch before the rain next week otherwise I can see long walks to the car ahead 🙂

Reminds me of that expression of yours: “brown water and gloopy mud.” I’m still waiting for a melody that will accommodate those words. But, as with warm and sunny weather in Beetley, it’s just a matter of time…

It’s been the same here, Pete. Irritatingly the forecasters keep saying it’s milder than it has been – doesn’t feel it. There is a wee chink of blue sky appearing so fingers crossed…

I think those forecasters just need to look out of the studio windows, Mary. 🙂

Same here 😕 had to take the car to MOT today and walk back, not far though and at least I don’t have to do a dog too. Neighbours fence is threatening to join our garden, fingers crossed it doesn’t kill my buddlea when it finally lets go! I can see a tiny bit of blue sky now, perhaps a little respite!

Fingers crossed for both the fence, and that blue sky. 🙂

My Mom in Illinois called and they got ten inches of snow the other night. The winds must have flown East and crossed the waters to land in your backyard. For her, there’s no mud and rain. Just bitter cold and snow. I won’t dare tell you what the weather is like in my neck of the woods. 😉
