I was sent a photo in the post, anonymously. I have an idea who might have sent it, but cannot be certain. But it was in 1975, and I have heard nothing since. At the time, I presumed the sender was implying that I was the father of her little girl.
Best wishes, Pete.
One older child already, and a husband who was stil around, but an incompetent alcoholic. I doubt she wanted to kick the hornet’s nest, Elzabeth.
Best wishes, Pete.
This could mean a few different things, Pete. It could by your mother or grandmother as a child or something more sinister like a child who has disappeared.
Not any of my family, that was certain. And if a disappeared child, why no name or message?
It has remained a potential mystery all my life, but I have an idea who sent it. I cannot name names of course, as all involved are probably still alive.
Best wishes, Pete.
Many years ago, I was sent a photo of a little girl aged about 2 or 3. It was sent to a place where I used to work, and the owner forwarded it to my home address. That was all that was in the envelope, and it had a local postmark. I could only presume the inference that she was mine.
But that was in 1975, and I have heard nothing since. I still have the photo, in an old album. I was thinking about it in 2019, and wrote this down in a notebook.
Best wishes, Pete.
Oh, wow! Same thing happened to my grandpa years ago.
A woman showed up and said she has a child for him.
Maybe, just maybe, it might not be yours or my Grandpa’s. Lookalikes are everywhere these days.
sounds very mysterious, Pete! 🙂

Wouldn’t that be a good basis for a new novel? 😉 Best wishes, Michael

I would avoid that, as everyone involved is probably still alive.

That is certainly a case of truth being stranger than fiction.

It has remained a mystery. Though I have a good idea how to solve that. But I cannot do that here.
Best wishes, Pete.

That girl would be the age of my daughter and probably ready to know the truth.

I would not be on a birth certificate, and perhaps less than a memory now. The woman in question was married, and already had an older daughter. 🙂

In that case I wonder why she thought it was you and yet didn’t want to follow through.

Apparently not. I hope that if she takes the DNA test she isn’t surprised to find she isn’t a full sibling.

Thank you. It has been so long, it seems to be irrelevant, either way.
