  1. You have friendly passengers. In India, people consider it beneath them to talk to the driver. Once my aunt asked the driver about his family. He nearly wept with joy. and then spoke about his life for hours (we were on a seven day trip).

    1. Driving a taxi in the London suburbs, everyone wants to talk to you. But they rarely know how to start a conversation, so always ask if you have been busy. To ease the boredom, I used to make things up. One frequent lie I used to tell was that I was a deserter from the French Foreign Legion. Even though I was only 22, they all seemed to believe me. 🙂
