I would like to wish all my American friends a very happy Independence Day. I hope that you all have a very enjoyable celebration of your national day.
Ireland had its own independence from Britain formally ratified in 1922. But it doesn’t have a celebration, as the six counties in the north are still part of Great Britain. (And likely to remain so for at least my lifetime) Is that what you meant, Elizabeth?
Best wishes, Pete.
I did, Pete. Thank you. The Boston Pops are a famous symphony orchestra. They have a traditional Fourth of July concert, which we look forward to every year. Also, we watched National Treasure with Nicholas Cage. I love that movie!! The sequel airs tonight. Can’t wait!
Well English, but how could you forget that? 🙂
(British is what other people call us. Over here, we are English, Welsh, Scottish, or Northern Irish. That is why there is no ‘Britain’ football team.)
Really appreciate it

Do you think Ireland will similarly celebrate sooner than later?

I meant the six counties in the north. I have been reading rumblings about then.

😬😔Sorry I’m not doing too well over here lol

No problem. You have to live here to be aware of all that stuff. It’s a very shaky ‘alliance’ of four very separate (and different) countries.

Sadly, England was conquered in 1066, and we have had little to celebrate since. 🙂
