Bizarre Inventions That Never Caught On

Humans have long been inventive and ingenious, but sadly not always practical.

A stair-walker for disabled people. (Not very comfortable on flat surfaces)

Luxurious propellor-driven transport for travelling across vast deserts.

The bus with a single driving wheel.

A ‘Turbo-wheel’ cruise ship.

  1. Amazing stuff! Specially the first one. Having pain in my knees all day due to the monstrous stairs in my house, I will settle for anything that saved me 🙂 These inventions may not have been a commercial success, but for once, it is the thought that counts! 🙂

  2. I rather like the stair-walker, but you’re right … it would NOT be very comfortable on flat land! Some really odd inventions, Pete, but then … one has to start somewhere! If people didn’t use their imaginations, we wouldn’t have cars, planes, computers, or even microwave ovens!

  3. (1) Why do I rock scramble when I could just buy a stair-walker?
    (2) I’m going to ditch my old camel and buy myself a new Aero-Drive desert bus!
    (3) There was once a flying version of the Dyno-Wheel called the Dyno-Soar, but the contraption is now extinct.
    (4) I heard that the Turbo Liner could easily chop its way through icebergs. Captain Edward J. Smith: “I missed the boat. I should’ve got one of those!”
