Plastic Surgery: A Halloween Special

I have never really been a fan of surgical alteration to the bodies we were born with, unless it is for genuine medical reasons, or to remove something unsightly. Years ago, it was suggested to me that I have the bags under my eyes surgically removed, as they are supposedly ‘horrible’. But I would sooner put up with them than face going under the knife around my eyes. Who knows what complications might arise?

In recent times, many women have taken the advantage of having their breasts enlarged, and even their bums made curvier. Men have had pectoral muscles enhanced, and some even endured the treatment for penis extensions. And both sexes have also had face-lifts. That’s up to them of course. It’s their body, their money, and if it makes them feel better, then I suppose that’s a good thing. Just not for me.

But the next time you are thinking about having your lips re-plumped with filler, or your wrinkles smoothed out with Botox, remember one thing. You eventually get old, no matter how much money you spend. Those years of looking your best now may come back to haunt you in your retirement. The silicone-filled boobs will seem out of place, and that alluring trout pout on your lips is not going to make anyone want to actually kiss you.

You might even end up looking like this.

Yes, that’s a real photo. She took a ‘selfie’ and posted it online.
Because she thinks she looks great.

Happy Halloween, to all of you who celebrate it. 🙂
I say ‘BAH!’.
There are no sweets at my house, so don’t bother to come knocking!

  1. We must tread carefully lots of people love the spooky skeletons of Halloween and the popularity of ghost stories
and the supernatural fascinates many. Talking to the dead is widely practiced in the supposedly civilised west and many believe messages from beyond the grave happen frequently. Remember Scrooge learnt from the three ghostly visitations , you could say he was redeemed by supernatural means.
Humans love to change their appearance especially to please the opposite sex , ladies use make up and all manner of subterfuge adorning themselves , and modern science has supplied new methods previously unknown.
Let’s not stand in judgement on humanity with all its flaws after all we are only human ourselves.

    1. My wife is a great believer in all things spiritual, FM. (I am not) But she has no truck with Halloween.
As for the old lady, I think she is victim of society’s obsession with ‘perfection’. I am not judging her as such, but I see her as a warning to others thinking of going down that same route.
      Best wishes, Pete.

  2. It’s funny how our attitudes change as we get older. As a kid, I loved Halloween going trick or treating. Back in the late 80s it was a simple as a face mask and a bin bag over me!! We in the UK have taken some of the US love for Halloween and it’s become huge over here now. As I sit here in my mid 40s i can stand halloween or even fireworks going off weeks before bonfire night. I won’t be answering the door tonight to anyone.
In terms of plastic surgery, each to their own. Yet the majority of people you see who has had surgery, they look horrendous. How many woman now walk around with lips that daffy duck would be proud of!! Ian

      1. I agree with that post from 2012. I always say “if America sneezes, we in the UK get the cold”. So whatever happens over the pond, catches on here which shouldn’t always be the case. Ian

  3. What a way to start Halloween. You are worse than Scrooge. 😂😂😂 Scrooge said humbug you showed us a bag of creepy goosebumps thing. Don’t do this for Christmas monsieur. As far as all you wrote is true. I don’t even cut my hair (except when my mom pulls me and beats me up to cut it)😒 so I won’t be doing all this stuff. 🙂✌ Happy Halloween to you and your family. 🙂😁

      1. No thanks,😒 not interested in calling ugly ghosts to my house this Halloween. The ghosts will actually run away because of my condition. Did I tell you about my sickness?? I don’t remember. 🤨🙄

                    1. I keep forgetting it. I don’t post on it that often, and it only gets around 15 views a week on average. It is also very opinionated and political, so not really of much interest to those who like this blog. Thanks for following it though. 🙂 x

  4. We don’t celebrate Halloween too but we observe All Saints and All Souls Days. They are official holidays here. That photo is quite scary. I see some people who have their noses and cleft chins done . It does not look natural.

  5. I’m with you on Hallowe’en, Pete; one man’s meat, and all that: I’ve no use for it all. I know I’m an old curmudgeon, but the only people who really matter to me take it in their stride and accommodate it, so it’s all good. I’m probably in a rapidly diminishing minority that has no ‘tats’ or piercings, and I’m quite content with my body the way it is. Vive la difference! Cheers, Jon 😉
